They could run the horses they have more often. I read all the time about all the horses stabled in socal who don't run, just take up space.

Yeah...

The horses are making fewer and fewer starts...and then the horsemen complain about how difficult it has gotten to pay the bills...

What is being done to increase the number of horses bred and foaled each year? Isn't that part of the long term solution to increasing field size (note, I said part, obviously there are other pieces to the puzzle but you can't bet what does not exist).

On a radio show this morning Ric Hammerle said that Hollywood park makes virtually nothing on the Lower takeout pick 5 bet.

last time i checked, making virtually nothing is better than losing virtually everything.

the irony of it all is their damn circus circus esque amount of exotic wagers, plus the fact they ran everyone off. protitability isn't going to happen over night

last but not least, they are acting like this is an experiment. the experiment is over. tampa bay, gulfstream, virtually every track in the country with a brain that is making money throws the players a bone and are having record years or close to them.

The TOC shook them down for a bigger cut of the takeout before they would approve the bet. The bet almost didn't happen because of that.

Then shouldn't they also shoulder the BLAME, for the sad state the game finds itself in?

The TOC is our adversary and biggest problem.
