Hey, Wayne: Since most of the serious players I communicate with either seek my counsel or are smitten by Mnr, I rarely get objective feedback from skilled handicappers like you-not concerning the show, or consisting of some diatribe about late scratches and short fields, I mean about trying to beat my home-track.

I liken it to another dude hitting on a girl friend I know every inch of. Exactly what does he dig OR even DISlike about her? And what approach gains him entrance to the kingdom, as opposed to which land him in the friend zone??

Mnr and I have become so inextricably linked that sometimes it's hard for me to step back and assess its nature (again, from a handicapping perspective) with open eyes and no preconceptions.

I know I am Canadian and this would be a somewhat biased opinion but I have to say that Woodbine Racing Live which is the handicapping show between Jeff Bratt and Jason Portuondo (sometimes Robert Geller comes on for picks)

I like how they break down pretty well every race and give good insight on who will but also who might be upset in the race

Interviews for horses along with the added clocker specials is a help

They also provide tickets like Pick 4's or Pick 5's which is helpful for the multi-leg exotic bettor who needs help filling out a ticket

All in all, there are countless other handicapping shows I can talk about but my vote if this was an Eclipse Award would be Woodbine Racing Live

I know you said that in jest, but handicappers looking for analysts for picks are misguided. Andy provides information that isn't necessarily available in the PPs and some of his veteran insight as well. I dont give a hoot about his picks.

Thank you for your support. Thank means a lot, as I know there are a lot of handicapping shows out there. I think the Mountain Man himself can attest .

Andy picks winners. But on Talking Horses, Anthony is underrated. He'll come up with some crazy longshots and they run well more often than you'd think.

I've enjoyed Talking Horses, but also wish Andy would sometimes be less browbeating with Anthony when they disagree. Anthony has some insights that I wouldn't mind hearing more about. NYRA has a first rate overall product - the broadcast coverage hits the handicapping angles but also hits all the other elements of the sport. Trainers, jockeys, owners, etc. They treat it like a sport which has gambling attached, rather than just a gambling opportunity.

You are kidding right ? The browbeating is part of Andy’s schtick. It’s forced schtick but it obviously works for him so be it. Ironically his schtick is less pronounced on the fox show. Why is that ? I appreciate the overall analysis on Talking Horses even though the info can become bloated.

NYRA does the best job. There are others that are good:

Mountaineer
Woodbine
Assiniboia Downs
Gulfstream

Nancy Holthus and I are pretty proud of the work we do each day before the start of the Oaklawn Card.

Haven't seen that mentioned in this thread.

We open Friday Dec 3rd. Expanded 66 days of racing through the day after the KY Derby.

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Your skills as an analyst sometimes go overlooked given your astonishing success in tournaments, sir.

I get distracted by some of his disastrous picks. I do acknowledge that he gives a lot of info outside the PPs. I just don't like his personality. He's obnoxious.
