AP-WILL HE RETIRE TO HAVE AN EXCUSE?

So, when he was put to the test, he crumbled.

Will they retire him and say "he got hurt in the Travers" to protect his name?

Or, does the contract of sale motivate them to run in the BCC because it pays the Zayat's more?

I don't know. How much does he get if he wins the BCC (10 MM? 20MM?. Only the contract of sale knows)

Wouldn't be surprised though.

They've already exceeded our expectations when they didn't retire him due to injury following the Triple Crown.

We got to see him run in 2 more big races. I'd be surprised again, if they ran him in the Classic, but it would be nice to see.

He's the best horse that I've ever seen, I don't feel like I'm owed anything more, and I will not question the connections regardless of what they do.

My sentiments exactly.

Crimbled?
Fell to the bottom?

He got passed, valiantly fought back and put away the horse who passed him, then got caught late.

Where was the mighty Texas Red?

If AP crumbled today, then a lot of other horses should be retiring tonight as well. On his worst day, they were nowhere to be found.

Race was reminiscent of Sec's loss in 73.....should HE have retired after that race?

I felt they never should've shipped him back west. Churchill was as far as they should've gone with him.

I don" t know about retiring but he did well . connections should have kept him here after the Haskell , Zayats wanted the Spa , went two more plane trips whe he could have rested upstate and trained there . we didn't see a fresh fit AP today and connections need to take some of the flack for that, he's not cargo.. even so you are right , he put up a valiant effort .

AP is no different than any other horse when it comes to feeling the affects of a hard long grueling campaign. He has been in training since March and finally showed a little wear and tear. Personally I don't think he has the time to freshen and regain his top form and win the BC.
