basically the program looks at the product of various impact values for 7 key factors: 1) early speed - using quirin speed points on the 3 most recent "rateable" races, 2) overall speed - using beyer or bris speed figures, 3) jockey rating - top 5, rode horse before in a "good race", or neither, 4) recency - days away since horse's last "good race", 5) class - as determined by average earnings per start, 6) post position - in certain circumstances, and 7) condition - as measured by a stretch or quarter mile drive where applicable. from this a horse's value odds are calculated and then compared to the toteboard to find overlays. i think one could also compare the value odds to the morning line for a starting point in the search for overlays.

Wouldn't this project require permission from the author due to IP copyright?

Hmmm...I actually made this years ago for Tim (or the bones of it anyway, it takes input and produces output but has no interface to speak of), but nothing ever came of it. It uses DRF single-format data files -- did they ever make the web formulator so you could export that stuff? (I gave up on Formulator when the desktop version stopped working.) I seem to remember that I *had* to use DRF -- does it depend on Beyer figs?
