Yep. I figured if someone on this forum didn’t know who he was, and since this forum has some of the more knowledgeable horseplayers I’m familiar with, that it was an apt observation. But it wasn’t. Looking back at Appleby’s BC entries, Andy is correct in that they have mostly chalky.

Appleby perhaps has the only horse that might threaten Baaeed in the Champion.
Last year's Derby winner Adayar (an Irish-bred) finally got back in action 10 days ago and scored an easy win over 10 furlongs. However, despite 3 or 4 coming out of the race to take major prizes later in the year, last year's Derby has proved to be a bit weak as none have come back to do much at 4.
Top French 3yo Vadeni may show up but needs to improve considerably after getting a bad trip and failing in the Irish Champion.
Coolmore's top 3yo, Luxembourg has done good if unspectacular work over 10 furlongs in his 2 comeback starts, but they are pointing for the Arc in which he'll have to negotiate 12 furlongs for the first time. He's the current favorite, which probably points to the race coming up fairly weak (with Baaeed opting out), so I suppose it's the logical spot, but it would be some race if he gets re-routed to the Champion instead.
Perhaps the ground at Longchamp will come up bad or Ballydoyle accidentally gets another batch of feed tainted with anabolics a week or so before the Arc.

Mahmood Al Zarooni was the fall guy for the last Godolphin doping scandal.
Appleby is a wonderful trainer and I suspect the reason his % is so high is the reason Baffert's is so high in So Cal. He already gets the best horses money can buy, and that is a real advantage in Europe running your million dollar purchases for $5,000 purses. But like any other name in the sport, it wouldn't shock me if it wasn't on the up and up.

Euro racing taking the flavor of American racing at the upper echelons.
Both Vadeni and Adayar now opting for the Arc rather than taking on Baaeed in the Champion.
So the "best horse in the world" skips the "biggest race in the world" for his final start and the 3 horses that are well suited to the Champion are scattering like roaches, trying the Arc instead with major question marks on stamina & conditioning.
So Baaeed will likely deliver an "unbelievable" display pummeling some outclassed rivals (probably Mishriff again) and he will go into the record books without even facing the best of his generation at any point.
Maybe if he wins by 19 1/4 lengths they'll say he was better than Nijinsky II...

Everyone knows Nureyev is the only horse you can compare to Nijinsky.

Baaeed also dosn't like soft/heavy ground so if it those conditions come up for the Champions Stakes at Ascot they may choose not to run in that race.

Belly dancer?
One of the best scenes in Serpico.

A segue to Serpico? I didn't see that coming.
Is the next inevitable turn the video of Irad punching Paco?

That would work; not only is Serpico's nickname 'Paco', but Irad looks (and acts...and rides) like an "assh0le with dentures"...
