Imbedded ads in DRF charts now means 28 pages to print a 10-race card. Such waste!
I know earlier this year there were a number of complaints about DRF imbedding ads for their own products within the past performance PDFs.
But that didn't effect me personally too much b/c I don't generally print PPs.
But today, I see for the first time that DRF has now added similar banner ads to PDF charts.
I do print out charts, so imagine my surprise when my print job of the Sunday 11/17 Aqueduct charts spit out 28 pages, including the blank pages that get inserted as spacers between races. For 10 races, this should have been 10-13 pages max.
Race #1, a 7-horse field, was SIX PAGES ALONE if you printed the entire day's worth of races! (one page for the chart itself, one for the banner ad itself, and FOUR blank pages following that.
This is a very customer-unfriendly move in terms of toner and paper waste.
I know there are some DRF employees who post on this forum. If so, PLEASE see what you can do to make this change not so wasteful.
(And yes, I know there are others who will read this and view it as an opportunity to tell me I should be scoping out a different product besides DRF PPs and charts. Thanks in advance. My desire, though, is to keep using a format that works for me without it being so wasteful.
Thank you for absorbing my rant!

You must be doing something wrong. I just downloaded and printed DRF's AQU Wednesday card of nine races and it printed out normally, on 20 pages.
You must be printing from your browser's print menu. Either that or your computer's infected with ad ware.

Printing out 20 pages for one day's card?
Honestly, I would just get a smaller 8" or 10" tablet and load the PDFs onto it, and use that...mobile and pocket-friendly. No way am I printing out 20 pages of paper, plus using printer ink, for one track per day.
A samsung Tab A tablet is like $150 bucks.

He's talking about the charts, not the pps.

I just downloaded the charts for Aqu yesterday.
The PDF file is 28 pages!
Race 2 chart is on Page 6.......pages 2-5 are either blank or an ad.
Wasteful, but you could print only the page you need.
My 2 cents, I use BRIS charts because an option is to show the running line style for the horses. That is a powerful visual for me when I am looking at the charts and looking for moves, etc. For some odd reason, they don't call out graded stakes races.
EQ has both in their charts, but the website is just too slow to use it on my XP computer. How slow is it? It is soooo slow, that several horses race back before the charts is downloaded! ba dum.

I’m still a pencil and paper guy that prints on 1-side only. I have a brother B&W laser printer. Cartridges are $10(includes shipping) which prints 2,600 pages. Doing the math that’s 7.7 cents for 20 pages.

What is this printer number? Sounds great.

Brother HL-2275DW printer
the cartridge model is TN-450 or TN-420
It actually does print on both sides but I only use 1-sided.

Not sure why you need to print charts out at all.
But they 'broke' the code recently when they added the ads.
Formatting got hosed.

$10 toner is likely third party toner manufacturer, but I've gone that route for many years and never had problems with it, although you need to read reviews to find a good company.

I used third party for my old LExmark before it stopped feeding paper.
Just tried 1Ink for my HP Deskjet and work fine, at 1/3 the cost.
I really need a Laser, so this sounds good to me.
Thanks
