I have spent $500+ on pick sixes to no avail. Largest wager is $400 to win several times, and $300 to win more often, which I have been able to cash enough.

A good bet into a race for me is about $100 these days.

Once made a $50 win bet on a 9/2 shot at Scioto Downs.
I was visiting a friend at OSU. We went to the track.
In the feature race I spotted a horse that had been pretty successful at Meadowlands.
This in the late 80's so the pools were reasonable size.
Anyway, to my disbelief the betting started out with this horse taking early money. Then was allowed to drift up to 9/2 from the low of 2-1. ML odds were 5/2. The eventual favorite was a local horse that had been winning at the conditions ( winners over $$) lately.
My horse scored by 2 dwindling lengths.
The most I ever bet on one race was $75 or thereabouts. In various trifecta and exacta combos. That was a field of 11 with the favorite at 7/2. In fact there were two at those odds and two at 4-1.
Missed the trifecta to a horse that should have been a show jumper. Exacta with the two lower priced horses paid over $50...I made a bunch on that one.
Needless to say I am not a big bettor.
The most I have ever churned in one day was around $700.

I still remember my largest bet ever like it was yesterday.I was a young horseplayer at the time and the horse was named Ankles. I bet $400 to win on him and he broke down.

I've dropped 500ish a handful of time..bc pick 4 when zenyatta lost cashed for like 3800..some carryover pick 5's at Gs which were losers...hit a pick 6 at aqueduct for like 1800 on a rain soaked scratch fest featuring r heat lightning I believe....500 on the nose on some even money chalk at sa which won...have had more luck with 500 bets on horses the sports I think...i bought a house a few years back so my days of 500 bets are probably over

I had a $500 bankroll for Del Mar Labor Day 2008, had a migraine and left early. On the way out I put $400 to win on Stardom Bound in the Del Mar Debutante. She paid $13.00 and paid for my trip!

I am trying to remember, but I am sure it wasn't on a horse race. I faintly remember pushing all in a poker game with stack of $ 500. I am sure it was not called or I would have more vivid memory of it. Played some blackjack for $100 a hand once, but I think it was undoubtedly in a poker game online sometime. Those stacks can get pretty high sometimes in even in cheap blinds no limit Hold em.

$500 BC Classic 2007.
Had the P4 alive going into the Classic for every horse except Awesome Gem & George Washington. Hedge my bet with a $250 win on each. (first & last time I have done that)

Curlin won... went home with a ~$6000 P4 - ($500 + $112)

Wasn't my largest bet but my most memorable. Eureka Downs twin tri carryover hadn't been hit at all and had to be paid out the last day. We knew it would be over $5K so three of us handicapped the first leg and had a $480 or so ticket to be sure we would be live to the second leg with just a few players left. Mind you the first leg was a field of 9 or 10 young quarter horses. Figured if we were live to the 2nd leg we would be able to know how many were left and could find them and work out some kind of a deal. Well the race is run and two bombs come in first and second. We missed!!

Go to our table and my better half shows me her 3 horse box for $12 and she has it!! I'm thinking nobody else will have it but one other ticket was live. Couldn't find the person so I give her my opinion and she bets her horses. Mine come in 1-2-5 and her picks come in 2-3-? Well shit! The ticket paid a 1st all all. To this day she says those weren't what I told her. But hey, she was live and I wasn't.

The good part of the whole story is that we knew the person who hit it and really needed the money in a bad way and spent the same $12 on the first leg
