Verazzano according to his facebook page has had this procedure,is it a big deal?

they do it for horse that buck shins. it is very common when horses are young.

The procedure has fallen out of favor in recent years, but its still done. It doesn't have any lingering effect, its meant to promote healing...if that's what the OP was asking.

has no factor whatsoever. not even worth mentioning. used to be a rather standard procedure for treating bucked shins. But not used nearly as often anymore.

Amen - very nice photos, Pine Tree Lane. Great shots of Verazzano and you can clearly see the pinfiring on his front legs.

I suspect Verrazano might be the horse she would be rooting for therefore I'd like to see #14 run well in the Derby and so for me this would honor her memory.

It was a blessing he bucked shins, made them wait till Jan 1st to run him now he's the horse to beat in the derby.......
