Played the Rainbow Pic 6 on Saturday. I expected to spend at least $140 using Steve Crist's DRF Ticketmaster. I was able to enter two pages with A & B selectioins until time ran out for me at .10 cents each for a total of approximately $15. Even if I had been able to inclued my C's with my B's and A's I would have still missed. But if it continues to carry over until this Saturday, I'll be in Virginia again, confident that I don't have to play over a hundred dollars to win. But I will push the button multiple of time's for .10 cents each ticket.

I was shocked to see this announcement on their FB page prior to the last race, and found it hard to believe. I don't understand how it's even possible. One would think at this level there are numerous syndicates playing, and that not only would there be more than one "ALL" ticket covering that race, but the 4, ridden by Rosario, was only 6-1 on the morning line.

Thoughts? I was predicting that this thing would roll 'til the end of the meet, but if it's true that none of those horses were covered, then that's a horse of another color.

1-2million combinations = $100-200K to cover

if 2 syndicates cover, they cancel each other for big prize
even if 1 does, sharing with favorites coming in does not seem like getting back $10- $20K for unvestment is good idea....

a special 'wide open' card could merit it?

The closest thing to a strategy is to play small tickets only on days when you feel extremely confident in chalk for a good portion of the sequence. The goal is to win $1,000 payout on a ticket that costs around $20.
That is the best way to go...thats how we play it. My friend and i throw in about 24 bucks twice a week so we throw some bombs in too. But once you hit the thing once that gives you money to throw at it for weeks the way we are playing it. We hit on a chalky day and it still paid almost 600. We probably won't play any larger tickets until the last day if it carries over. You are right about the 2 mil statement thats why theres so much crazy money in it. The 2 million is a lotto bet, but you never know some "dreamer" may hit it......i'm not going to bet alot chasing that, but for a dime, i'll take stabs at it. Whats the strategy of getting hit by lightning? Fly a kite in a thunder storm....because if you are betting alot and its not the last day....thats what you are doing.

The problem with this favorite strategy is you will hit too many ticket just over the IRS signer mark. Unless you are one of those rare people who already itemizes their race losses the tax bite is going to kill your ROI.

Yeah, the signer thing is a big problem , unless you plan to win big money and itemize.

My strategy in the one-only P6 is to try to win the consolation (6/6). Like others said, there's so much dead money from guys putting 99-1 shots in to try to take it all that even with the relatively small percentage given back in the consolation, there's still money to be made.

and the longest shot on the board (would have paid 237.60 to win) would have returned $8568.80 in the rainbow six - this would have been a very bad day to spread all/all/all/all/all/all

Not a bad payoff given the win prices.

thats why you save all your tickets and statements. i have saratoga bets this time of year, NYRA card in the summer when toga is opened and save losing tickets. i never worry about signing, thats a good thing when it happens, plus how many times can you hit the thing? i hit it once and i'm happy and it paid under 600...this is a chump change bet, i put in under 50 week into it with another guy. only play it twice a week. like the other guy posted if you are expecting to get the 2 mil.....good luck to you. but if can hit one more and its a good one, i could care less about the taxes. if you are worried about that, why even play the exoctics to begin with? once spring hits i play almost every other day...i've never had the problem...." I won too much the tax man will get me'" except the year Big Brown lost the Belmont. If you are worrying about winning...thats a problem. If you can't figure out how to get around it, thats even a bigger problem.

Never fear the signer, Robert. Get a good CPA. Makes all the difference in the world, trust me.

What makes everyone think the owners of the track {or their interests} are not playing an "all ticket".....understand there is nothing illegal about it and it is in their best interest $$$$ to have it roll over....again and again....I spoke to a local owner of a dog track about it.-----He says they used to do it to make their pools "cap" ----gain more future take-out money. If they get the lone winner...so be it. Not like they can't get it cashed by a guy they know in Toledo. Sucker bet. I will NEVER ever play a jackpot type multi-race pool until the day of the forced pay out. Even then...one should understand what they are up against. W.C. Fields must be laughing somewhere.
