The point is that even if we solve the time problem for figure making based on past performances, there are still variables with incorrect data which the figures would rely on

It's probably best to think of figures as an approximation that helps you interpret results, especially in situations where the quality of the horses is harder to determine (like lightly raced maidens and ALW horses, 2yo stakes etc..) rather than some objective reality. Then all the complexities and differences between figure makers bother you less. Still, if they can't get the times right, that opens you up to some very significant errors. They have to get that much right.

Saw a post on twitter asking about theses times. Someone who hand timed the race said the times were accurate.

Has anyone double checked these fractions yet?

I've seen a few people say they're legit, defies expectations for sure. I did a stopwatch on the video for the 2nd quarter & actually got the same fraction, that's as far as I was going to dig on this one. Would love to hear anyone chime in with more sophisticated review equipment though.

If those fractions are legit, those are some fast horses. In the early part of the race they were actually restrained a little. Then they were let loose.

I watched the race and it looked like the pace suddenly got quite hot a furlong in and stayed hot around the turn

They definitely looked like they were going very fast.
