Republicans are ordering the investigation into false statements and claims made by Avenatti and the other lady.
Problem is in order to prosecute that they would in fact be investigating Kavanaugh again... for something the last one didn't.
Hence the whole Republicans are in fact playing themselves on the issue.

The FBI will be investigating Avenatti and Swetnicks' claims of drugging and gang rapes ... for perjury under oath to Congress ... maybe they will find some corroborating evidence to their claims along the way.

Didn't NBC say she lied to them but they went ahead with the story anyway
and investigated later if needed.

Swetnick in subsequent interviews said another thing, and appeared to walk back some of the claims she made during sworn testimony before Congress.
No need to investigate Kavanaugh... all they need to do is review tape and transcript. if the two don't square... bomb. Got it.
