So what basically happened here is that the centerfold had the "staple" removed.

Oy.

You basically said you find nothing unappealing about seeing this person's private parts. So "to each his own" isn't good enough anymore? We have to find transgenders just as sexually appealing as we would the female or male who we'd normally find appealing?

Let's go over it again - if you randomly saw that picture on the cover of Conservative Hetero-Male Monthly, would you find her "appealing"? Yes or no?

The problem with your analogy is the reader finds out the truth and feels betrayed by the magazine. What they thought they were seeing (a beautiful woman) had been physically altered and in fact was born a male.
Hard headed liberals like yourself, Dan, constantly try and create reason for issues that just don't make a lot of sense. Call it as you like, whatever it may be, however unnatural it may be, but at the end of the day, it is what it is.
What's amazing is that those like yourself never seem to get it.

Okay, so I see that picture on the cover and say, "She's pretty." Then my friend says, "She's transgender."
This is the point where I can either laugh and say "Good job!", or I can feel "betrayed" and get all pissy about it.
The reaction says more about me or you than the picture.

He is anorexic thin through the arms, and the face is just ok. Something looks a little odd about it, though "male" wouldn't come to mind.
So I guess the answer is no, not particularly.

Don't they already have magazines for people who are into ogling people who have been altered in that way? That makes it "Playboy" magazine no longer. The magazine is doomed.

Playboy? They still exist? They have this thing now called internet porn. Just imagine being a kid these days. Back in our day it was magazines. And other influences. Kids these days. Man, point, click. BAM. Everyone says kids stay inside because of video games. I wonder

I think this is a desperate attempt to become relevant. I glanced at the Playboy Philosophy, written in 1962 and it's not a particularly good fit for today world. As MutuelClerk has pointed out there is no way for them to compete with Internet porn. Their sales seem to be way down & at least this has people talking about them again for a few days. Here is a chart of how they've been doing.

Mildly curious about who they will put in the next issue, but not curious enough to buy a copy. I'm going to guess either Huma Abedin or Barney Frank.
