Hank,

I'll leave the rest of the thread to you. I'm reading you to say if Meyer doesn't have a Tebow (Brantley is about as good, who knows HOW good) then he can't compete in the SEC. All he needed was a Chris Leak & a badass defense to win an SEC title and bring in a jump pass off the bench from time to time.

He's excelled wherever he's been with or without a Tebow. And, check out his past 4 recruiting classes including this yrs...dude has stockpiled a load of blue chips.

All yours now

OK since you posted something completely false, I'll have to jump back in

Brantley has taken snaps in SEC play & threw some passes as well in conf play.

Next...

Please Hank; if Meyer is "yellow"…heaven help the rest of us.

As SP alluded to; it speaks to the INSANE pressure of coaching major athletics. One walk around the Florida football facilities and it’s obviously bigger then life itself to the alumni.

Meyer changes mind

Didn't realize that he was related to Brett Favre and Roger Clemens. Skip training camp and be back in time for season opener.

Urban is back. This is guy is an older version of Farve. Now that is over, We can get down to the real Question. How much longer will Nick Saban stay at Ala? He is the king of the "grass is always greener". When you combine that with the fact that several past coachs used Ala as a stepping stone to really big payday, It has got to be only a matter of time.

Not many college programs pay better than 'Bama. Only one way for him to go and that's back to pro...not sure that's what he wants. Bama will lose some defensive studs but QB's are back and if Ingram and Jones stay on that's a big part of the offense, so I don't see him leaving for a few years.

Thumbs up Urban Meyer

First of all, let me start with the disclaimer that I am not a gator fan, but this bashing of Urban Meyer is a mile off base. Urban Meyer has been a winner as a coach and person everywhere he's gone, and the health problems that he is experiencing are REAL. It's a shame that guys like Saban make us synical (because he earned it from the fiasco when he was the Dolphins coach and lied about even talking to Alabama) when coaches are involved. Urban Meyer has the utmost integrity and is probably the MOST respected Coach and Man in College football. There is a video clip being shown in southwest Florida where I live of Meyer actually clutching his chest and obviously being in considerable discomfort during a game this year. And by the way guys, he only "changed his mind" after Athletics Director Jeremy Foley went to him and asked if he would consider taking an indefinite leave of absence, and that the university would assign an interim coach from his coaching staff if he would agree to do so, which they have now done. If there was "more to this story" Meyer would have spoken with his alma mater about taking the Notre Dame job. There is no doubt in mind that this health threat is real and I wish Coach Meyer the very best in his recovery...........

Do you guys think had FL beaten ALabama and in the natl Championship game, that Meyer still would have announced this before their bowl game? Seems to me a bit self indulgent and the wrong thing/distraction to send to your players who have worked their butts off all year.

I doubt very much Meyer cares about this consolation game, therefore why not let it come out before the game.

I know these feelings run deep Hank. It’s like myself discussing A-Rod in a rational manner…It can’t happen!

Pro sports often affect the head; where as collegiate allegiances can affect the heart. I wasn’t doing back flips over Florida myself, but when my daughter attended its amazing how personal it becomes.

Best of luck against Joe Pa.

My favorite all time coaching move: Dennis Franchione leaving Alabama for Texas A&M. Pay back for stealing the Bear. Poor A&M got the short end of stick on both deals.

You have no case. ( I think your hatred is seeping through again). The "about face" is explained above. He offered his resignation and the University of Florida came up with another (and what they strongly feel BETTER) solution!
