It's the hot horse, but not necessarily the wiseguy horse. The wiseguy horse is usually a longshot.

HAHAHAHAHAHA the hot wise guy horse is never a factor if I remember correctly and I've been taken down the train on more then one occasion....let's see...
Wilko was a hot horse
Pants on fire was getting touted hard
Steppenwolfer? Pretty sure he was hot that week
Friesan fire......buried my the who year afterwards
Jazil was touted hard in derby
I know there are many more but off memory alone im drawing blanks....has the hot horse/wiseguy horse ever win this race?
I don't recall animal kingdom being wiseguy play/hot horse

Yes totally forgot them.....also just asked my friend if he remembered and he said Dunkirk......1000 percent was a hot/wiseguy play
He also said colonel John and looking at lucky but I kind of think they were favorites and pretty much on the radar

Animal Kingdom definitely was, off that workout. He was clearly the hot horse in the days leading up to the Derby two years ago.
Don't think Orb qualifies; he figured to already take plenty of action.

He might even end up being the favorite.

Orb if we are talking about the hot horse, 2nd choice
Normandy Invasion if we are talking about a longer shot.
Other longshots like Overanalyze, Vyjack, and even Black Onyx(the 'dark horse') all could be in the conversation.
Revolutionary also has some fans, and Borel is up
...much of the field has things to like.

The buzz in the barn area today was Black Onyx and Itsmyluckyday and Normandy, though the latter two are considered in the top third of the field by a lot of people
On the other hand, no one seems to mention Lines of Battle (I imagine because he's not here), Frac Daddy, or Will Take Charge, who is not the smoothest looking creature.
Standing directly in front of Orb, he's about as narrow as Real Quiet was; not a big horse by any mean, but very well put together. He was not even breathing heavy after today's work. Interestingly, he went with a workmate who had Joel Rosario aboard.

Steppenwolfer and Jazil were in the same race. Never forget it. Had $10 trifectas Barbaro-5 horses-Steppenwolfe and $5 Supers Barbaro-5 horses-Steppenwolfer-Jazil. Not having Bluegrass Cat cost me hundreds of thousands.
Street Sense was a steam horse off his last work. Sometimes they do run

Picking nits...what specifically was the buzz on Black Onyx? His appearance/demeanor or how he is handling the track?

The workmate is an 0 for 6 maiden. He should look good against him.
