Not unlike the many others in various sports who always somehow managed to simply stay ahead of the testing curve.

Eventually there’s only going to be 5 trainers with all the good horses each geared up for different meets.

Beautiful Gift in the Las Cienegas today looks interesting. She was a highly regarded filly last year, obviously got hurt, and comes back in a 6 1/2 furlong down the hill race. Is Baffert just using this as a prep, or does he foresee a future on the grass for this filly? She's got some grass breeding on both sides of her pedigree (El Prado/Sadler's Wells on the male side, and Zilzal/Nureyev/Irish River on the female side), so it's not crazy that she might like the surface.

3rd dam produced Dance Parade, who won this very race for Neil Drysdale in 1998. Dance Parade also was a successful broodmare, producing the good stayer Leading Light, who won the St. Leger and the Ascot Gold Cup. 3rd dam also was granddam of a European champion sprinter.
The second dam, Ocean Queen (another Drysdale trainee), beat males in the 1996 Bay Meadows Derby, setting a course record in the process.
But apparently the pedigree wasn't convincing enough to give Beautiful Gift a try on the grass today.

Not so fast. Does it bother you that you misspelled your screen name?

___________
Baffert's Mucho Gusto and Charlatan have been invited to the Pegasus Cup
IMO the event is going to be diminished by Baffert's presence
so much focus on him and his violations and legal issues
so effing tiring
.
don't believe I'm going to watch or bet
.
I'm too effing disgusted by it all
