Yes, I have seen those chiclets popping all over the screen like a three legged drunk at times, I have to avoid watching them as my blood pressure experiences roller coaster rides.. It seems that the right technology at a reasonable price exists to replace this mess.. right?

I agree with you that Tapwrit extended his energy use around the half-mile point of the 2017 Ky Derby, but he wasn’t as efficient in energy usage as either Always Dreaming or Classic Empire; both of those horses averaged over 8k joules per quarter which indicates that they did the most work during the race since work and energy are synonymous to each other.

Watch the replay of Promises Fulfilled's last race, the horse is not even shown during the whole race, and goes wire to wire. Yeah, the technology existed in the 80's, but why use that when we can have chicklets!

How funny you mention that, I remember that race, because my girlfriend was screaming at the TV asking where the horse I just bet a pile of cash on was

So, the downside of chicklet's is that they are bad for relationships.

Yes and they look so innocent in their tiny popcorn popping multi colored glory, I think I like them as gum, not employed by Trackus.

Chicklets tried to unionize, so Trakus has been hiring M&M's as replacements.
Getting ugly.......

Like Tom said; the major tracks offer Trakus for their races w/ most of the info.
If you have trouble navigating you can always google stuff like NYRA TRAKUS ...

I find the the best way to get the Trakus data for each track is to go to this website. http://trakus.com/partner-racecourses/. Scroll down to the list of all tracks using Trackus and providing its data. Just go to the track site and click for Trakus replay data.
Personally, I find Trakus extremely useful. The aerial views of the races are like the ones when the networks showed the race from the overhead blimp view. Great for spotting trouble and ground loss that even the most careful video replay can miss. Invaluable in explaining a race result and a poor performance. The Delta ground loss data is also very useful in quantifying what I pick up in watching the reply.

An eye tracking study of races that showed both the race and the Trakus tracking icons simultaneously underneath showed that most viewers spent more time watching the "chiclets" than the actual race. I guess that while the race itself is much more aesthetic to look at, people are more interested in following where their horse is and the getting a better view of what kind of trip it's having.
