South African Tavern Deaths

At least 22 dead (I think all of them teenagers) in a SA tavern in the city of East London, on the Indian Ocean.
They may have been high school seniors celebrating the end of the school year, but some were as young as 13yrs old. No injuries were found on any of the deceased, and the cause of death is still unknown.

Apparently they were being served (or had in their possession) alcohol. The tavern is known for selling to underage kids.

Was this a bad batch of homemade alcohol?

I hadn't thought about fentanyl. That may be it.

The kids were found slumped over the tables or lying on the dance floor.
They seemingly just dropped dead.

I'd lean towards a gas leak-ventilation, 13 is young for fenatyl. Fenatyl overdoses in groups are common though. In March , in my neighborhood, we had 7 Fenatyl overdoses in 1 house , and all were West Point cadet's. Here on spring break.

fentanyl is cheap and strong, so it's good for manufacturers and top sellers, and the power structures that cultivate and benefit from the trafficking and gang work.

problem is that some knucklehead with powder and pyrex and a pill press machine are just too error prone to making pills that are lethal in normal dosing. Ideally you'd have a chemistry degree level cook, or at least a sober, intelligent person with a reliable process of dilution.

Some teens that usually take a few oxys or vicodins to get high, take 3 of these 'oxys' or whatever the street name is ( i'm out of the loop now )... and it sends them into OD...

same with heroin users now. Fentanyl is cheap and is used now to stretch/enhance/replace heroin. Sometimes it is misdosed.

And for the same reasons fentanyl is sometimes added to almost any/every street drug.
