Book: "Bankroll Control" by Michael Pascual

Has anyone read this book? If so, what does it entail? The only thing I remember from quite awhile ago is that Dick Mitchell labeled this method of betting as a "Group Overlay" method of betting. Is this method complicated meaning does a handicapper need a pocket computer to work this technique out? Thanks in advance.

It's pure math.

In the early 90s, I helped Paul Peterson with a seminar here in Reno. Mike Pascual, another Reno resident) and I were guest speakers.

Mike is a really intelligent math guy. Proud to be tagged as a true nerd.

When Mike introduced the concept of multiple bets in the same race, things got really complicated.

REALLY complicated.

So, yes, it demands at least a spreadsheet.

_______________
His approach is centered around optimum bet size.

That approach by itself is simple.
It takes 2 components:
  1. Accurate Probability
  2. Accurate Odds
The challenge is that in horse racing neither of those are even remotely close to attainable without very rigorous data efforts.

Oddly enough, it is #2 that is more difficult in this era.

HeadHawg-- To me moved means it went to a totally different area. I do not need sarcasm.

It moved from the General Handicapping section to the Library section which the mods thought it was more appropriate. And you made a post here so you can obviously find it. You may not need sarcasm, but you need something.

Here's Mike Pascual's Group Overlay Method i had in my Windows XP notebook computer.Dave Schwartz is right. When you put the tote odds 2 min to post, let's say "4" which is 4-1...but the late money comes in most of the time and when the final odds are given it can go down to 9/5 and messes up your betting.
Attached is the Group Overlay Method written in dos by Paul Peterson.

Headhawg-----The first part of your response was fine but you also said I need something if not sarcasm. What did you mean by that statement. Tell me what is the 'something' I need? That last comment you made looks like another dig. If you want to be helpful that's great but if not then just ignore what I posted.

Soflant, Bankroll Control was written by math guru Mike Pascual and it's all about
optimal betting, expected growth rate and betting partial Kelly in the value handicapping process of racetrack investing. He takes the reader beyond return on investment(ROI).There's a lot of formulas in the book specially on expected growth rate usingoptimal risk, win probability and odds.It shows you how much money you'll make over a series of races. He also discussed on using a partial Kelly for optimal betting starting with a small bankroll.
