Top Gun Maverick
Did you see it?
I give it an A-
It was the first date my wife and I went on in May of 86.
Going out on a date night to see the sequel yesterday was pretty cool for us. And we rarely do the “date night thing”
Up next “Elvis”

time to let go....
i did a review on here but it's probably fallen 5-6 pages back by now? i think dave schwartz was the only other person who watched it?
i thought it was good for a sequel although it seemed to heavily mirror clint eastwood's heartbreak ridge ..... albeit without a lot of the salt.
an emotional scene showed maverick's now good friend, iceman, in declining health but bravely holding on as maverick's lone supporter. iceman knew what was best for the navy and what was best for his friend; that this important mission be completed so maverick could ultimately "let go" and move on with life.
i thought it was a little funny that cruise's statement in the color of money about his proficiency in the video game (it's all coming down to video game reflexes....computerized tanks...) was starting to come to fruition in this movie as the drones threatened the future of his program(s).
it was also imo a neat move to bring in (the previously only mentioned ) penny benjamin as maverick's love interest.
proximity 8/10
estrella 10/10

As Proxy said, for a sequel it was just excellent.
But like the other sequels from long ago, if you don't know the story, you'll miss a lot. (Who didn't see the original, right?)
But we just loved it.
PS: Spend the money to watch it in IMAX.

I thought it was good, definitely entertaining. Believe it or not, I never watched the first one until the day I was going to see this one.

Top Gun
I rate movies by how memorable they are. Some movies I forget everything about them a week after I have seen them.
Top Gun and the Top Gun Maverick are both excellent movies.

Wow! That’s probably the best scenario …….

Just got around to seeing this.
Didn't get to see it in IMAX unfortunately (not playing in IMAX anymore, apparently).
It was good...but I kinda expected more based on the amazing reviews I kept reading.
If I had seen it in IMAX, I probably would be singing a different tune.
Also, I have now come to the conclusion that the living room experience has actually caught up to and in many ways surpassed the theater experience, IMO.
As long as you have an ATMOS sound system and a decent enough TV.

I think HDR is the difference for me. I’m older now and my ears are bad from standing around Air Force jets and going to the shooting range on a regular basis back in the day.

Have you watched Gemini Man on your system?
Not the best movie...but one of the rare ones shot in 60fps...giving it that "live" or "soap opera" look.
It looks AMAZING...not every movie purist's taste, but again, it looks AMAZING on a good system

It's 2019 so it's out there
I don't know what kind of quality options are available on AppleTV...obviously 4k HDR...but not sure how compressed it will be...

I didn't go in with the highest of expectations - I'd heard that the story was serviceable and the practical effects amazing, and that's essentially what I got.
I give it credit for taking the story more seriously than the original (which was pure cheese) while still maintaining the original's 80's swagger.

Not for me. some movies I still insist on seeing in the theater ( Star Wars, James Bond, War movies. Since my wife doesn't like a lot of the movies I like, I often go alone, which works for me cause I' addicted to movie theater popcorn, that and a box of Ju Ju beans and I'm in heaven.
I've seen the new Top Gun twice, and loved it.

I found it. It looks very good……
I watched about an hour. I realized I had seen the 2nd half before.
You can tell it’s different but I didn’t know it was the frame rate.
As a motorcycle guy, some of those tricks are pretty awesome.
