The bolded sentence above is almost true -- which I suppose could be another way of saying that it's true most of the time. Most lies are told for selfish or self-serving reasons. However, some lies are also told for a genuine Greater Good or for the genuine good of others, and are told regardless of any harm the liar may suffer from the hands of others.

A great example of this is when many Christians during WWII risked their lives hiding or protecting Jews from the Nazis. Biblical examples exist, as well, such as when Hebrew mid-wives in Egypt refused to obey Pharaoh's order for them to kill all male new borns. When these mid-wives were questioned on all males being born and surviving, they lied to Pharaoh and told him that the Hebrew women were heartier than Egyptians and often didn't want the services of any mid-wife. Another example is when Rahab the Gentile prostitute hid the Jewish spies, spying out the Promised Land, and helped their escape, thereby saving their lives and then later lied to the king about it.

In all these cases a genuine greater good was served by lying, even though the liars placed themselves at great risks.

Think about the attitude involved and how it impacts people that are capable of making good decisions on their own.

1. They are telling us “noble lies” because they think we are all idiots that can’t make correct decisions for ourselves.

2. When people that are capable of making good decisions figure out they are lying they no longer trust anything they say.

Right now WAY fewer people trust the government, FDA, CDC, NIH, the drug companies, the media, guys like Fauci, and in some cases even their own doctor because of all the deliberate “noble” lies that were told. You can get away with being wrong sometimes, especially with so many unknowns like there were with Covid early on. But you can’t get away with repeated lies.

And of course it usually turns out the government was full of idiots and there were plenty of much smarter people outside of it.

People need good information to make good decisions.
When the press fails to do it's job, shit happens.

Like this pile of poop.

This has nothing to do with censorship. Like I said governments lie all the time sometimes for the right reasons and other times for the wrong reasons. When they lie for the right reasons its so that mass panic doesn't happen. For example. I believe right now the banking system is teetering . If everyone went to the bank right now to withdraw money the entire system would crumble. They keep re assuring that its ok. If the you believe aliens have been here since the 50's like a lot of people do. Could you imagine the panic that would have happened back then if they would have told the truth. Not such a big deal now.

So what's the solution? The system is what it is. What changes would you propose?

What Reagan said, did he consider himself a problem. If he did dementia had probably already set in

People really didn't have any idea Reagan was suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's at the end of his second term, until it was revealed well after he had left office.

Now, compare this to Joe Biden...

I have solutions to a lot of problems. Require the same level of test required to get a Voter Card as a Driver License. Just a basic understanding of how the government runs and taxes work. Politicians would not lie so much if they weren't trying to pull in the sub standard intelligence votes, of which there are many.

Need to have some minimum standards for truth in media and make them pay dearly if they spread lies. Some sources have become nothing but propaganda that is divisive and causes nothing but problems.

Don't believe me, go read the front stories on MSN. The ones that sell the evilness of the white man, which are a daily occurrence are often 100% made up. Once trusted news sources just spread lies.

Also give equal air time to people like Tim Scott who preach personal responsibility, instead of race baiters like Al Sharpton and Ben Crump who clog the airwaves.

The other solution is for violent crime, bring back stop and frisk, and punish felons in possession to the fullest extent of the law, which is the opposite of what is happening. A good number of homicides are committed by people who got light sentences for serious crimes.
