How are you handling Toga without going this year?

I bought 24 cans of Manhattan Clam Chowder for lunches.
I got a 5 gallon pail of sulfur water. Every day, just before the first race, I have a glass of it and pour a dish to set on my computer table, to give me the fragrance throughout the day.

I bought a case of Labatts and every time I have a bottle, I tear up a five dollar bill.

I park my car four houses up the street, throw a five dollar bill on the sidewalk, and walk home.

When I go in the back door, I throw a five dollar bill on the ground.

I taped a tree branch to my computer monitor sop I can openly see half the screen, and I moved it across the room, so it is very hard to see the saddle cloth numbers.

I put a box of candy bars in my bathroom, and sell them to me for $2 a bar when I go. When I wash my hands, I throw a dollar bill into the trash can. I tried to get a friend to stand in the bathroom all day, but no one would take the job.

It's working! I feel like I am on track!!!

That guy at the top of the clubhouse, who sits in the bathroom with his large fans and tears paper towels all day long with the bowl of hard candy, what is HE doing for work these days?

Tom, you left out the part where you close all your windows, turn off the a/c, and swelter all afternoon while watching the races. Of course, you are tearing up bits of liberal newspapers after each race to simulate losing tote tickets and naturally throwing them all over the floor!

No one on earth can replace the bathroom attendant on the 2nd floor grandstand a little up the stretch from the 1/8th poll. I thinkh he works at Belmont also, but I'm not sure where. He's at Saratoga every year. He blasts the best Motown music on his music box and sometimes dances and sings a little. He always gets me in a good mood no matter how much I'm stuck. I tip that guy a dollar mint.

Great ideas Tom. I followed your suggestions and they worked to a tee

My only problem is you covered the afternoons, but I really miss the mornings too. I tried writing "Whitney's " on the back of my chair and drinking a $10 medium dunkins donut coffee ( why do they only sell one size there?). My wife agreed to drive our golf cart around the back yard in circles, but she doesnt look like Linda Rice. Any suggestions?

For me, not making my annual three hour drive up the Thruway, stopping for breakfast prior, enjoying the races then having dinner at Carson’s Woodside Tavern is making me feel very empty inside. Seriously. I really look forward to driving up on a Wednesday or Thursday and taking in the card.

This year I’ll be doing Monmouth instead. Beautiful track, but it is not the same.

I hear you for sure. I have been going 20+ years, the last 2 by myself. Its good to get away for that day. So, I been waffling back and forth Saratoga or Monmouth. Monmouth on track, Saratoga outside under some tent watching on TV (almost what I do on site). I am about 3 hrs from each site. Saratoga is winning out, going to have to go for that one day.

Just need to find that right place where I can pull up get a seat and have some beers and food without a time limit or anything crazy

FINGER LAKES opens today, or as we call it around here, Toga West.

You can't go in, but I image the parking lot will be full of tailgate parties.
