Tote Outage
Caused Tampa Bay Derby to be made a non-wagering event, and affected many other tracks(Oaklawn, Santa Anita, Gulfstream, Louisiana Downs, Fonner and likely more). I am not knowledgeable at all about the tote system, so what does a “outage” mean? What happens? Also the Florida Oaks never had prices come up, so have the people with winning tickets gotten paid? If not yet, will on track patrons have to mail in their winning tickets for the Florida Oaks?
Feel bad for Tampa, clearly wasn’t their fault and are getting this at the worst possible time.
And for a broberg quote: unless you’re in Texas and then the handle is small enough where it can be done with your fingers and toes

Horse racing really is, and I say this with love, the dumbest run sport in the world.

I'm empty right now. I seems like horseplayers are constantly battling ineptitude at every turn and I'm worn down. And if a guy like me is worn down, what about more casual players?
This needs to be a turning point and not swept under the rug like so many things that have happened before it. The tote is the backboard of the industry and it needs a major overhaul. I'm about 99% sure the 11th will be declared an all race for the Pick 3/4/5 bets and it is total crap. The race was run and we have a winner.
This is 2024. I sent money to my daughters a few days ago via Venmo and 10 seconds later had thank you texts. But horse racing has continuous problems and we often don't see the actual final odds until horses are nearing the stretch. ENOUGH!

Sure there were some delays when posting some of the race results, but there was absolutely no problem betting or getting the live tote feed.
In fact, I enjoyed one of my better days at Santa Anita which offered a very nice card today.

Dude, come on. This has nothing to do with Santa Anita. Stick to telling us how we should learn to bet Bob Baffert. He went 1 for 2 in the two stakes today and you lost if you bet on them.

Sorry if you can't handle some facts!
Maybe you ought take a peek at what I bet before mentioning anything about your favorite trainer.

I've read your posts and I've never been impressed, sorry. You tend to jump into other threads to tout "winning" days when they allegedly happen, but frankly the people that might care would already know. Isn't that why you start a thread in the first place?
There was zero reason to hijack a thread about a tote outage with your results. This will be the end of that in this thread.

This provides a good overview. Use the Current Model Rules And Standards
Chapter 4 deals with the tote.

I see the payoffs have been made.
I guess someone finally figured out how to fix the problem: unplug it and then plug it back in
Works every time

As long as the tech hit Save before doing that.
Imagine the atomic-bomb sized stink if all was lost.

This is where the corner bookie comes into play or at the track! The old fashion way!

Had 3 of 4 in late p4 because of the cancellation of r12 and got a refund. Anyone know why they didn’t pay all in the last?
