My kids should pay me back for everything I did, and I can't think of a better way than having them retire the debt we're going to leave them.

To be fair, no one has tried to reduce the debt in our lifetime.
Had we not gotten the tax breaks, not a single $ would have gone to debt reduction now or ever.
The National Debt is the lifeblood of both parties - it is the giant rug they sweep everything underneath.
At least with the tax cuts, actual working CITIZENS get something for a change.

That hilariously pessimistic outlook is probably the best way I've seen it rationalized.
Good job Tom.

Because you usually talk in circles I truly am not sure about this last posting of yours.
Does it mean that you (1) are against the Trump tax cuts; (2) are you saying these tax means have meant little or nothing to the person, the state and local governments, and even the economy?

It was the pessimistic view that if we are going to spend ourselves into poverty and irrelevancy might as well give taxpaying citizens some of the perks along the way too...

Taxpaying citizens getting a tax cut shouldn't be considered getting a perk.... it's the return of the taxpayer's money in the first place.

The only thing you have to focus on is the many have focused on our narrative, and your now with the few shoveling shit against the tide. People like their money, you can not sell your anything this year.

It is OUR money.
Period.
End of discussion.
No debate.
You want to lower the debt, attack the trillions of $$$ of senseless waste perpetrated by BOTH parties.
Ending ALL salaries and benefits for elected officials would be a great place to start.
Sitting in Congress should be a "service" not a career path.

Ever notice how many politicians acquire great wealth while in office? Their government salary seems to pale in comparison to their "other" sources of income.

I would be willing to bet most politicians would pay to stay in power once elected if that was an option. Instead of elections they could sell public offices to the highest bidder. Good way to reduce the debt and I bet corrupt practices would not increase much.
