...the last one I received was the July/August eddition, with a beautiful picture of Chatral on the cover. The magazine comes when it comes, and
I am OK with the content. ........and I almost forgot to mention the "topless"
photo of Cantal on page 10 ( teaser).

i would suggest that you DO NOT resubscribe. The chance that they stay in business is as good as you betting a 100-1 shot and it winning (slim).
Any money sent to them is not safe. It would be better spent on a 100-1 shot to win.

I happen to know both the publisher and editor of HPM. I will see both of them today and mention this to them. I will also encourage them to respond personally on this board.

It would be nice if their website was available for subscriptions, etc.

What do you base this on? Their website being down?
As far as I know (and I am a subscriber), they haven't missed an issue yet...

Are they any better about putting the issues out on time now than they use to be? I thought they had a pretty good magazine, but I got tired of getting the Derby issue on the fifth of July and the Breeders Cup issue the day before Christmas.

Check out the many other threads on this subject. I have told the same story too many times already. A short recap....I pay for 2 years, I get about 5 issues. I call to complain. The woman says "maybe your mailman is stealing your magazine". I never got a refund or another issue. I sent quite a few messages to Quigley, via human and e-mails, he never got back to me. Let the buyer beware.

The previous posts are what I am talking about.
Their actions are what all failing businesses do before they go under, no communication, late issues, etc.
I did not state my point on any factual information, but rather my opinion that they simply are not going to survive.

To be fair, they have been doing that forever, which is why I stopped subscribing a few years ago. It doesn't mean they are going out of business in this case at least. The web site says a new HorseplayerDaily.com is coming, so we'll see.

If you ever vacation out west and visit any of the southern CA. tracks for live racing you can talk to Mr. Quigley personally. You will find him every day next to the walking ring viewing and tweeting on horse physicallity. From what you stated it seems HPM's customer service dept is not very responsive.
My opinion/experience with HPM was nice pictures but lack of content and sporadic distribution. In my opinion old issues of ATM were better learning tools.

Horseplayer seems to be a misnomer, as a lot of it has nothing to do with playing horses. So much potential when it started, and so little substance ofter all theses years.
Perhaps when one runs a business, his time would be better served in the office, instead of the paddock, answering phone calls and emails instead of tweeting.
But hey, I could be wrong.
