The DRF

I like the DRF the best. I pay $2.95 per track for my data ,yes a little high. my next pick is Brisk @$1.00 a track. the only way i know to get the data is in the Formulator 4.1. Then you can export the data you want out to Excel.
maybe other programs.

bris ultimates for me....I find these to be the most comprehensive of all the pp's...with sire and dam sire stats...trainer stats ...early and late pace numbers...pace of race numbers...pars provided for every race including pace pars...and i find the race summary and bias stats to be very helpful in determining when a horse has the right running style and when a horse might be offering hidden value.I used the drf for the first 25 yrs of my handicapping life switched when i found the trainer and stable sites offering free bris ultimate pp's....I find their figs..pace and speed to be more than good enough...drf is second..tm platinum last.

I may be wrong on this one, but I don't think there's a time stamp. DRF faq's says it prevents multiple users of a data file for cards not yet run.

I don't think there's any case whatsoever limiting them by machine, I've drf files going back ten years, and use them on totally different machines, hard drives, and so on.

I think it's limited by the ip address on download: ip addresses out of the general area are detected, perhaps? I have downloaded files from my home, work, and Starbuck's sites, and they all work.

I make my own figures at my website. If you aren't using ground-loss adjusted speed figures, I think you're way behind, Bris and DRF do not.

I'll be testing my speed figures against BRIS soon. It would be nice to see how they compare with Beyer or any other speed ratings by race line not handicapped. It will be a simple test, number of wins from top speed figure last race by category. The categories will be by distance and surface:
  • turf sprint
  • turf route
  • dirt sprint
  • dirt route
  • poly sprint
  • poly route
About 100 races for each category. We could post the speed figures here in the forum before the races. If you are interested PM me.

Testing is great, but 100 races is WAY too small of a sample.

There has been no mention of HDW data in this thread.

I would be interested in hearing about their accuracy/consistency vs the others.

I believe there is an unlimited download plan available for under $100 per month.

I agree for official scientific testing. Can't get there with limit resources. If these results look good then I might take it up a notch later.

Isn't the "raw" data of race fractions, lengths, and comments the same for Equibase, DRF and BRIS? Don't they all come from the same database? If so, then the calculated numbers for speed and pace, as well as the other info (breeding, etc.) is what sets the products apart.

Just asking this for the folks that generate their own pace and/or speed figures.....

That, and a few wrong trainer names.
