100% daylight savngs time just doesn't work

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...d-sunshine-act

I recall that one year when I was in San Francisco this was tried and dozens of children were hit in the near darkness of the hour when they were walking to school.

Idiot: GO BAK TO WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY STARTED
HERE in Arizona we have to clock changes twice a year and from taking my wife's son to work ear day at 7:00, I can tell you that if daylight savings were year round, it would still be black outside at that "daylight" time in the winter.

Lankford alluded to how Arizona had chosen to stop moving its clocks up an hour in the spring and then back an hour in the fall. “They have done this for years, and, somehow, their kids are still getting to school on time, commerce is still happening,” Lankford said. “And today, in Arizona, they’re not – they’re not waking up with a clock that’s messed up.”

ALL EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY FROM SOME ONE WHO LIVES HERE!

quote: The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has also called for abolishing seasonal time-changes due to its impact on circadian rhythms. “Mounting evidence shows the dangers of seasonal time changes, which have been linked to increased medical errors, motor vehicle accidents, increased hospital admissions and other problems,” the academy’s president, license clinical pscyhologist Jennifer Martin, said in a statement.

I was 10 years old when we moved to AZ from PA.

Growing up where the clock stayed on the same timezone all year always felt like a good thing.

Looking back, it's one of the things I miss about Arizona.

That, and the mountains.

But not vacuuming the pool after a dust storm.

Or the desert heat island effect.

I wonder if latitude and season has an effect on when it is daylight? I have heard in mid-December there are parts of Alaska that are dark all the time.

So when would be the best time for 'daybreak'?

When they started this, it was fellt less electricity would be used, but it did not work out that way.

If the kids in San Francisco have not learned to walk on sidewalks, isn't that survival of the fittest?

Well, I love it. It's still light out here right now.
I don't mind changing, it shakes things up a bit.

Besides, we now have more time after supper to things before the vampires come out!

I guess all your neighbors had sons and recent immigrants had not started pool services. I lived in SoCal in the Mojave desert, a sand storm rang the cash register for me. I had a neighbor who worked the fair circuit (early video games, not horses) who paid me monthly for pool and yard service, everyone else it was by the job.

I like the standard time and also want it left alone. Dusk is at 7:30 here, and another hour of daylight to work by. I'm sure the crime rate is higher just before daylight in many cities. DST gives criminals an extra hour to molest or kill a school kid, or undertake any number of felonies to choose from. This will be the rule till May.
Besides, farmers hate it.

In my part of the country, it would suck. May-June-July are great months where it's light until 8:30 and 9pm in June and in June it's light out by 5am. I cannot imagine going back, which would have it light out by 4am.

If they were to freeze time to daylight savings time, that would be fine, but standard time year round would be silly around here.

Another one of the few things we agree on, chimp.

To me, in this part of the world, it all comes down
to whether you are an "early morning person", or not.
I can't stand total darkness at 7am. It works for some.

There are only so many hours (about 9-10) of daylight in winter.
Do you want it brighter at 7am or 5pm? It's pretty simple.
