Golden State faces pivotal off-season

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...2016-offseason

Don't agree with all of this. Maybe 50%. I don't think Durant will go to Golden State. I don't even think they are a player unless something weird happens.

"The Oklahoma City Thunder actually outscored Golden State during the Western Conference Finals. If not for OKC being outscored, on average, by 103.7 points per 100 possessions (seriously) during crunch time in Games 5 and 6, the Warriors would never have even sniffed the Cavaliers."

Outscored 103 points in 100 possessions on average. Amazing and hard to accept. Unfortunately total points in a 7 game series is not the decisive factor.

But crunch time always matters.

I disagree with the article. "Pivotal" offseasons are for teams striving to get to the top; not ones that are already there. No one can take away the championship that was won last year, and if they win tomorrow, nobody can take that away. If it comes crumbling down, so what? It would be extremely difficult to three peat, in any major pro sport in the US nowadays.

Curry has a low contract

maybe 11 million. 4 other players have bigger contracts than Curry (Iggy, Thompson, Bogut, Green)
That's why they win. Let's see if Curry shoots for LeBron money 20 million. Durant will want at least 18 million.

The only real question IMO with Durant is does he sign the two year deal with the opt out after one to maximize his salary, or does he sign the max this year with OKC to help the team get better players to put around him. He'll probably do the former, but the latter isn't out of the question. It isn't like he doesn't have alternate income sources.

With a 300 million dollar Nike Deal, money doesn't mean much to Durant. Don't get get me wrong. You don't want to insult the guy with a 15 million dollar contract. He seems to want a ring very badly. I vote the latter.
