The Wrath of Bill
I recently saw where former New England Patriots’ linebacker Mike Vrabel was appointed head coach of the Tennessee Titans. When Vrabel came out of Ohio State as a consensus All-American, he was drafted in the third round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for Pittsburgh for four years. In 2001, Vrabel, then a free agent, joined the New England Patriots. He played for the Patriots between the years 2001 and 2008. He might have ended his career in New England save for an incident that occurred during one of the Patriots games.
I can’t recall whom the Patriots were playing that Sunday, but they had just scored a touchdown. They were assembling players for the kickoff team when it was discovered that they were one player short. Bill Belichick apparently called out the name of a Patriots rookie -- now a TV sports personality, along with Tom E. Curran, on NBC sports Boston’s “Quick Slants” – named Jerod Mayo.
It was then that Vrabel, a senior member of the Patriots defensive unit, intervened. Vrabel sensed that his teammate, Mayo, was pretty well “winded”. In so many words Vrabel said, Mayo’s not going in. And, he didn’t. He remained on the sideline when the ensuing kickoff occurred. Apparently, not much was said at the time.
However, in late February, 2009, it was learned that Mike Vrabel and quarterback Matt Cassel had been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. In exchange, the Patriots received the Kansas Chiefs’ 2nd round (34th overall) pick in the 2009 NFL draft.
As a postscript, Vrabel would play two seasons for The Chiefs before becoming a linebackers’ coach at his alma mater, Ohio State.
Do the Patriots play the Titans in 2018?

Once Brady is gone and the New England dynasty comes to a crashing halt, the long knives will be out for Bellichik.People only tolerate him because he wins which will stop when TB 12 is on his private island in Costa Rica with his supermodel wife. Bellichik didn't exactly knock 'em dead when he coached Cleveland.-I'll take Bill Parcells anyday.

Without crazy variance, the Patriots should have been blanked since the Feb 2005 win over the Eagles.

As an old Giant Fan I like Parcells as much as the next guy. But Bellichek is better. Parcells went 3-12 in his first year and was almost fired. Cleveland was getting better in Belicheks last year I think they were leading the division when Modell announced they were moving to Baltimore, That killed the team. Also Parcells never got to a SB without Bellichek as his DC. Having said thta I'll take either one as my coach anyday.
What do you think of the the new Coach and his new DC James Bettcher. I like them But they still need a O-Line and New QB. Eli is just too immobile.

I think the plan is to draft whomever of the Big 3 QB's (Darnold, Rosen, Allen) the Browns don't take and that the Giants like the most. What I would like to see would be to have Eli play one more year while the rookie sits and learns, then give Eli his release so he can make his own deal (Manning has something like 21 million due his last year but the Giants could probably eat that comfotably as they're in a rebuild mode and will have a lot of cheap yutes on their team). But so far, the Giants have not returned my calls with these suggestions.
I'm pretty sure that the Browns will take Darnold.Rosen is the most NFL ready but he's said a few things that make me think that if Cleveland took him, he'd try and force a trade, like John Elway or Eli .He said a few weeks ago that he'd rather be drafted in the middle of Round One to a good team, then #1 overall to a bad team.About as subtle as a knee to the scrotum. However,I feel that the Browns are a team on the rise.A new coach would help.
The best thing about Pat Schurmur is that he really knows how to get the most out of his qb.He also has a varied background which helps. I wonder if he is too low key for the bright lights of NYC or Odell Beckham..Bettcher is a really good move, he's drawn a lot of attention for his work at Arizona and he's near the top of the list of young coordinators that are in line to be a head coach down the road.If he's successful, he'll move on and I think the Giants realized that when he was hired. And to think just 6 years ago, he was the linebackers coach at the University of New Hampshire.
Agreed the O line is in need of some serious work.Even a mobile QB would have trouble with that line in front of him.
