Summing up the Trump era

First off, I'm mostly apolitical, leaning towards a more conservative, libertarian bent. I'm not a Trump basher, nor supporter. I do think he's gotten in over his head a bit.

I think a statement made by George W Bush at the moment the Trump administration began sums it up best. After Trump's rambling, nonsensical inauguration speech, GWB leaned over and whispered to former President Obama, "That's some crazy stuff".

Probably.
Every President since the early 1960's, and perhaps before, has been in over his head a bit.
Maybe VP's need to be given more decision-making responsibilities.

I would suggest that the answer is for the administration to have fewer decision-making responsibilities. The executive branch has been growing by assuming authority through administrative initiative (Exhibit A: the EPA) or filling vacuums left by Congressional inaction and inertia. In either case, the need is for Congress to do its job.

That's it. Let's get a committee.

Every presidential history has been in over their head at some point in their term

Dope

Back and forth on Trump myself. But for this I am grateful to him or whomever in his administration that made fentanyl the centerpiece of trade and diplomacy.

I applaud it. Thank you.

The symbolic elements of the deal are at least as important. First, China has acknowledged that exports of fentanyl, a highly addictive synthetic drug, are a very real problem for the U. S., and has pledged to ban them. In addition to the benefits of the ban itself, simply getting China used to the idea of accepting blame — for anything — counts as a step forward. It’s a sign that China will start conducting its diplomacy less defensively and more like a normal member of the global community
