Is this a high water mark? Can he go higher?

He caved on the shutdown and gave a SOTU.
He'll get bumps for those. Rasmussen is hardly the poll I would turn to for a reliable rating... overall he will likely get a percent or two bump.
Last Tuesday 538 had him at 39.9 and today he's currently 40.4 and trending up a bit.

his state of the union address on a cbs poll was 76% positive. maybe it's a bounce from that. or could it be reality setting in for some people? It is tax refund season. and that would explain the left trying to down play the tax refund thing. hard to say where this new found love is coming from

The poll was taken in the 3 days after the SOTU.
I think he killed his re-election chances when he caved on the shut down. But, if there’s enough good news to make people forget that, and another terrible candidate runs against him, who knows.........

It almost seems like he might really need a legitimate primary challenger at this point.
To sort of right the ship and create a working platform.

You give the electorate way too much credit
when it comes to long term memory.
Seems to me, it's in short supply.

Be honest ely ... really ... are you really and truly that stupid politically or are you just a troll?
You have shown us absolute zero political, economic, historical acumen ever since Trump's historic escalator ride to destiny. And it's gotten worse by the post as Trump piles on success after success since becoming President.
I need to know before I decide to leave this once great place or not... not that anyone cares if I leave, I know. But, you've already proven to all of us over a 3+ years period, how incoherent and juvenile you are on the very same matters and issues you claim expertise.
You've become obvious, boring and a waste of time, in addition to completely wrong in just about all your analysis.
Just wanna know for the record, of course ...

Are you really and truly unable to disagree with an opinion without personal jibes and insults?
Why can't you make an effort at objective rebuttal of a position you disagree with instead of your usual litany about Trump is a genius and anyone that doesn't believe that is an idiot.
P.S. There are maybe a half dozen people here that have shown a good and realistic grasp of economics. Ely is one of them.

You mean like no wall, a ballooning budget deficit, losing the mId terms, backing down to Pelosi, no coherent, consistent foreign policy?
