There are logical factual reasons
I am reading , for the 2nd time, a great work by Ronald Brownstein entitled The Second Civil War: How Extreme Partisanship Has Paralyzed Washngton and Polarized America
With multiple documented exmples, he follows the roots of the inceptoin going way back to the 1890. and objectively updates how things degerated from there to what he have today..He takes no side, as there is not one to take in his objective fact driven assessment of this phenomenon over the years.
It makes the current state of affairs easier to understand. I highly recommend it.

Well, hell, mine was born in 1870-something. He was an old coot when he sired my mother in the 20's. My great-grandaddy was a war vet; some war stuff, relics, souvenirs, not sure what to call them, made there way through time for me to store. Anyway, either great granddad or grandpa could'a been an 1890's extreme partisan that begat the great rendering. Who knew?

I thought they had kids late on my dad's side of the family as my great grand father was born in 1872. On the other side my great grandfather was born in 1890. I think we are about the same age. Pretty awesome that you have those civil war artifacts.
I'll just speak about the current sad situation, politicians from both sides are to blame with the media a close second, mostly the liberal side. A good example was watching Stephen Colbert, who I can't stand with a passion,
interviewing Jennifer M. Granholm, energy secretary, who was spreading lies about the green part of the Inflation reduction act. She was going on about how you can get 30% off a heat pump water heater and save on your gas bill. Of course all the stupid people in the audience clap.
That statement is true, but it is misleading. What you save in gas will be added to your electric bill dollar wise two times over at a minimum, probably more like 5 times over. Also they cost 2x a similar electric or gas water heater after rebate.
The only way a heat pump water can save money is if you are heating with electric, but they never mention that.
So a politician goes on a TV and pretty much tells a lie that will hit the believer in the wallet. I honestly don't think she knows any better because
she did no research.
The biggest problem I see is that a lot of the news media is doing nothing but telling the story that fits their narrative and leaves out important details. You have a lot of people running around who believe things that are not true. I have a mostly liberal friend who thought Kyle Rittenhouse
shot black people because Biden and Harris kept calling him a racist.

McKinley started the patronage back when he as prez...little later than that
I see that the orange one is out of his mind again: quote: 'The former president was appearing in support of Mehmet Oz, the Republican candidate for US Senate, and Doug Mastriano, the candidate for governor.
Oz, a TV doctor, is struggling against the lieutenant governor, John Fetterman. On Saturday night, Trump called the Democrat “a socialist loser”. He also claimed without evidence that Fetterman, who recently suffered a stroke and whose health has been mocked by the Oz campaign, used illegal drugs.
the clown said he used fentanyl
