Good times and good racing. I believe you’re right on the year. Sharing that week with your group was lots of fun.

Dave,
Thank you for posting this information.
I am very much saddened and sorry to hear of Patrick's passing.
It was not too long ago that I had the pleasure of meeting with Patrick for dinner at an Italian restaurant near my home in Boynton Beach Florida.
He was a likeable, pure and honest soul that had some very tough breaks in life. He had a strong desire to succeed at horse race handicapping and was an active participant in the sport that he loved so much.
He will surely be missed by those that knew him.
Patrick, rest in peace.

Seems like Patrick met a lot of people in the real world.

I'm very sad to read this also. Thanks, Dave, for posting this.
Patrick was one of the most open and genuine people I've ever met. We handicapped together in some PA contests and I met him with the Pace and Cap guys at 'Toga as well. He never stopped looking forward.
I find it slightly ironic that he reaped his best monetary rewards with the seeds from one of his misfortunes. Somehow it seems fitting.
RIP. It seems the good guys do go first.

Just curious, does anyone know if Patrick was one of the original truck drivers mentioned in many an article about the Sartin early days? I was curious about that when his handle on usenet in the 90s had trucker in it and if I recall he seemed to be a follower of the methodology.
At the time I made the assumption just because it fit for the times but never got around to asking him. I do remember he was very enthusiastic about handicapping in those days and seemed to check in with the group regularly when he was on road trips. Have to love the people who bring that kind of enthusiasm. I will certainly remember him for that.

I don't believe he was old enough and if so he never mentioned it. I'd confidently bet no.

RIP Pktruckdriver aka Patrick Kane. I remember meeting him at the 2012 Arlington meetup. He was very kind and, like all of us, in the forever search of the next winner. I remember him lighting up for me on some W2G signer I hit at AP and speaking on and off again every so often after the meetup. I know he had his challenges as we all do, but he was a racetracker brother whom you always rooted for.
I'm trying to track down some photos from the outing, thought I had them on Facebook but can't seem to see.

Here is one I found. He really had a liking for Jessica Pacheco and was absolutely fanatical over her

Very sorry to hear about his passing.
Every time we talked he called me Boss.
Two things I'm sure of: He was a good man and a Horseplayer.
Deep down I believe there's an afterlife. If so, when a horseplayer goes to heaven they let you win most of the photos.
Rest in Peace Patrick,
-jp
