Not In My Lifetime

Have I seen empty shelves at the Stores like this... I've seen higher prices come and go but you could purchase whatever you needed if you wanted.

Was at the store today...I was there to get some ground and chicken none there. As I'm standing there, Lady comes to meat cases, looks at me and said she just came from Walmart they had nothing. No meat no produce and rest of store was thin on merch. What are we going to do? I don't know but I hear the NY Times was finally looking into the Biden's foreign dealings. She looks at me and said a little too late don't you think. Yes it is... about two years. I said you know what else we did not see two years ago. She said what? I pointed to the empty shelves. She said not in my lifetime... not here. Agreed and wished her luck.

The problem is that the roads are racist. Its as simple as that according to Brandon and Pete. We need to change that before the US can get inflation and supply chain issues under control.

No problems in stores here in the Midwest other than a few random things for weeks at a time.

However prices up huge. 80/20 ground beef rolls now 5.99. chicken breasts at least 4.49 a pound.

A local grocery store now has limits on how many chicken packages you can buy at any one time. Two is the limit. Let's go Brandon.

yesterday on our day off my wife noticed Kroger had hams on sale for .77 a pound. Bone in variety.

We hustled out the door and bought 32. It was all the local kroger had. They didn't say a word. No limit.

We can't get it for our store right now. We can't get Shrimp/Catfish and about 100 smaller items like condiments

We are buying wherever we can find it. We hit sams club this morning on the way into work. Most of the time it costs us more.

Those 32 hams were only about a 100 bucks savings from our supplier (they are much higher now too) but just having 32 hams will get us thru another week. We go thru about 30 a week.

I have 14 in my personal freezer in the garage that we picked up 2 weeks ago.

Deli items are hitting big numbers too.

sliced chicken breast is 10.99 lb
Ham sliced is 11.99
Pastrami is 11.99

Whole boneless chicken breasts were 2.99 lb

We bought a crap load of those for home. The wife can cook anything. She cooked some in our countertop oven and sliced them herself.

Seafood is over the moon here in Texas except for Galveston Bay Red Snapper which can be pretty good if you can cook.

I miss crab legs and crab cakes. I just cannot pay 22 a lb for crab legs right now. I miss the crab cakes from Baltimore. CJ's dad took me to some places that made the best in the world.

Oh yeah............Thanks Brandon.........

Walked into 3 stores this morning: Walmart, Winco, Smiths (Kroger's) looking for 4 items.

Two Campbell's soups that we eat a lot of.
Two Smucker's preserves products.

Went 0-for-4.

I could have hit like this at the MLB level for $2m a year.

So, does this essentially mean that the LABOR is now costing $9 per pound?

Here in DFW, people are stocking up for the cold weather. We don't get much severe winter weather, so there is not much in the way of snow plows and such. So, there is a possibility of being home bound. And, during last year's winter weather the electric grid failed.

Not sure what ground beef rolls are, but I just bought 80/20 ground beef for $3.99 a pound at Riverside Foods in Riverside. Somebody saw you coming.

There are occasionally things out of stock, but if you wait a few days they usually come back. , I am not saying prices aren’t going up and we do have to address this. On the other hand, my monthly Social Security benefit and Postal Service pension just went up $165 a month, combined. Nice to have EARNED good benefits while I was working.

Damn interesting way to look at it...........

I am working on my taxes right now. My kitchen labor rate avg is about 12.75 an hour.

From $11 to $17 across about 30 employees.

Comparing that to your conclusion above......... that works out to be expensive deli stuff...... But I suck at math

LOL

Maybe you should put that kitchen help to work producing sliced chicken for other restaurants.

(Actually only half-kidding.)
