Clark Handicap

What's everybody's thoughts on this year's race?

Does Soul run away with this one? How about Bravazo off the long layoff? Seems to be plenty of speed.

I'm intrigued by Pioneer Spirit. First race off the biggest came in Churchill history (150k). Might get a piece at long odds.

What's everyones plan of attack?

Tom's d'Etat: Will be bet and might be the favorite. Second off the layoff with a running style that does well at the track. Shows some of the best races in Graded company and should be considered a strong contender.

Mocito Rojo: Been on this guy for a while now. Tough customer, but I have a feeling that he has shown that class wise is not with some of these.

Snapper Sinclair: Seems to me to be a G3 runner at best. Seeing him in the BC was a surprise.

Mr. Buff: A major threat to wire this field, big pace advantage will take him a long way, north of 7/2 is a good bet.

Bravazo : Another one that will take money and is comparable to the in here. If you blame the last race on the slop then you have to get by the 7 places and thirds. Figure wise is the best, but with the tendency to not win, is a bet against in my book.

Seeking the Soul: Likes the track, is the only million $ winner on this surface. Has ran a few races that can win here. Need a 10/1 + price to play and you might get it.

Pioneer Spirit: Another one that needs a big price to play. I do not trust the last figure and he has been beaten by a few in here.

Tom's D'Etat is legit favorite. They still have to show up, run around a circle, and not get into a pace meltdown, but I have no reason to 'guess' against him.

Owendale is a decent price for exotics.

Snapper Sinclair is a good price to pass some tired rivals underneath.

Major Cabbie is a wildcard. He has not proven to me that he wants a competitive pace vs this field, but if they let him control a soft pace and play the first turn, he will win.

exacta box and I'd tentatively make the 3 my top pick.
I think he can rebound from the last and he should get a fast track (and hopefully not lose as much ground). Tom is a legit fav but I think it's worth taking a bit of a stand at ~ 8/5. Mr Buff I like since he may be able to outfoot the other early speed and he's got a respectable record at this distance.
good luck

I'm going with the Mocito Rojo. I'm not sure how I'll get until I see the odds. Definitely a win bet after that depends on the odds.

Wink Clark action plays

$20 Win on the for some 'action'...

Can I 'nail' a ticket with Snapper Sinclair?

$50cent Tri / / Snapper Sinclair = $1.50

Dime super / / / Snapper Sinclair = $2.10

Pyramid Dime Super of my opinion:

=$14.40

If the Toms d'Etat shows up, he'll be tough.
I don't want the Mr. Freeze,... I don't want the Seeking the Soul at this price,... Same with Bravazo,
Do Like the , and the , and the is my wildcard.
Included the on some tickets. Chance of contested pace, and he could trip into a piece if everything sets up for him.

Owendale is my horse for the Clark. He's a big strong 3 year old who should get plenty of pace to chase. I like him shortening back up to 1 1/8. He was working like a freak over the Churchill Downs strip pre Classic. and I'm willing to toss that race.

Count me in the OWENDALE supporters. The distance and class are no mystery to him.

With the scratch of PIONEER SPIRIT...I'll go with an exacta of OWENDALE over TOM'S DE' ETAT & SEEKING THE SOUL.

Good Luck,

This race has plenty of speed, but it's not clear to me that some of the major horses can't just sit off a few lengths and still be OK. It's not like Tom's d'Etat or even Draft Pick if he can run back to his Pacific Classic is a need the lead horse.

Aside from Owendale as an obvious big closer, Seeking the Soul might be a little interesting. His best races fit perfectly here. His last few weren't as good, but they were all in CA. I don't usually put a lot of weight on horses for courses, but it looked to me like quite a few horses didn't handle those CA tracks. Maybe he can jump back up.

Nothing really hits me here.

Owendale and Seeking the Soul are both going backwards in their form cycle
