You can bet the derby at the 1/16 pole....

The M resort, newest property in las vegas, using "in game " sports technology
will be taking bets on the derby from the start to the leader reaching the 1/16 pole.

you must make a deposit and receive a hand held device for betting earlier than post time.

the odds on 2 bets offered will change by computer during the race from the opening of the gate to the leader reaching the 1/16 pole.

when the gate opens, these are the bets and the odds:

i want revenge +350 vs. the field -450

or

i want revenge
dunkirk entry +125 vs. the field -155
pioneer of the nile

any opinions ???

The most ridiculous prop wager I've ever heard of - amazing thing is that there will be folks betting it.

The sheer odds of 1 of 19 horses being ahead of IWR is likely, but do you really want to wager $450 to win $100 ?

If we could bet in inch before or after the finish line, I would be a very wealthy man.

i'm not sure i understand your point and i appologize.

the betting stops when the leader reaches the 1/16 pole, but the bet is on "who wins the race". it allows you to see the flow of the race, the fractions, those horses hard used in the early stages, those horses saving ground and forced wide and then make a bet with 1/16 mile remaining or at any point in the race before that.

i thought it was interesting.

Why is it so ridiculous? It's no different than laying a horse at a betting exchange, and most people don't find that to be ridiculous at all.

i just assumed everyone would know a person would be betting on the finish of the race as in all betting propositions......but you know what is said about making assumptions.

The Racing Post proposed this wager in England when I was there last year. You get half the morning line odds. An interesting twist on logic. I could make a career out of it
