What I worry about now is the fact that so many people have no power.
We had terrible wind storms last winter, our power was out for 5 days!
It was very cold (for us) at night. Temps in the low 50's.
If the east coast gets freezing temps, this will be very, very bad.
Our prayers are with you all.

Many schools here have been set for those needing shelter and warmth.

Our main trauma center , Hackensack Hospital was successfully running on generators as of last night .
Moonachie and Little Ferry , both close to the Meadowlands have had evacuations going on .They were hit really hard with flooding . National Guard is helping to relocate these unfortunate people .
Getting around is a problem as the traffic lights are out and debris and tree limbs are blocking many streets .
Several of the fatalities from the storm were due to falling trees . Heartbreaking .

Watching CNN most of last night, it never occurred to me that Obama was responsible to do anything anywhere. He is the president of the USA, not some local flunky. (Alright, he is a federal flunky! )
Whatever he does to help anyone out after this is frosting on the cake, not his responsibility.
As was Katrina for Bush.
I thought Cristie was right calling out the mayor of Atlantic City. Has Bush been prez, I have no doubt it would have been twisted into his fault that those people did not evacuate.
Mayors and Governors, this is their job to do, not the feds.
People were stranded last night because of dipstick mayor, just like they were in Chocolate Town. Local incompetence.
Obama is doing what he should be doing, and nothing is his fault.
Too bad it doesn't work both ways.

Years ago when New York city had a power blackout, births increased 9 months later.

Lost it for a few minutes when the PC changed feeders. No loss of cable. Hung out down the road (you know where) and had a decent time with the locals.
I saw the devastation in NY and NJ and really feel sorry for those folks. The losses to those in Breezy Point NJ brought tears to my eyes.
I sincerely hope all is well with my friends to the north: PA, NJ, OTMAl, canarsie. lamboguy, and anyone else I can't remember at the time.
God bless all.

85-90% of Long Island is/was without power this morning. I was one of the lucky 5%...never lost it for more than a minute or two...
Then again, I went 5 days without power after Irene, while most of the rest of the Island wasn't hit as hard, so I guess it was my turn to be lucky.

We had one fatality due to a falling sign. There were some trees downand about 40k without power, but almost all back up tonight.
Very lucky v.s. the people of NY & NJ.
That Seaside Heights is surreal... It's like the beach went OVER the neighbourhood,
GLTA. It will take weeks- months to restore.

Refreshing to find a common feeling of working together without using the tragedy to further some lame brained agenda.
Oh, brother. Look who it is.

If power stays out for an extended period on the lower eastside, it could get real ugly. We're talking about 500k people in an area of about 3 or 4 square miles.
