Gotta give pros to CNN - excellent coverage so far.
People waist deep in the water covering it all.
FOX coverage has been pathetic. The best they could come up with is a friggin panel to argue over who the storm helps more politically!
Fair, Balanced, and downright lousy news.
I was hoping, for just a second, that "The 5" was broadcasting underneath that crane that is hanging out over 57th street.

Hope everybody in the path of this storm will be okay. Looks like a lot of serious surge flooding in NYC/NJ. Stay safe.

Fortunately, I still have power. Life is good as of now.

My APC UPS has officially engaged 23 times due to "Blackouts" lasting a total of 3 minutes and 50 seconds...plus 2 undervoltages lasting 10 seconds.
Amazed that the power never went out for more than a minute...power still on...winds dying down substantially, at least as it pertains to gusts...
Seems like the worst is officially over, and where I am has thankfully avoided the serious rain this entire storm...ours was pretty much a wind event with some rain thrown in...
Hope everyone else out there fared as well as I did, but I know that's probably not true...then again, I was without power for almost a week after Irene, so I guess I should count my lucky stars...

Is your power overhead or underground?

This is serious.
There was an explosion in a Con Ed substation on 14th st. in Manhattan. Most of the lower Eastside has no power.
This website has some pics and a video of the explosion. Hopefully, no one was nearby, as I can't imagine anyone surviving this.

No reports out yet. on the extent of damage in Atlantic City .
Gov. Christy held nothing back on that issue . The mayor of AC
has some explaining to do.
An unusual situation at NYU Langone Medical Center in NY. Backup
generator fails to work so those in need of critical care moved .
They made no mistakes warning us on this storms potential.

Yup, I can relate. But it sounds as if you have gotten through the worse of it, which is a good thing.

I think the big Bellevue Hospital in NY had very similar problems, looking to evacuate, etc. It appears some folks didn't take this storm seriously.

Bad stuff in Queens - flooding, fire hope Al is OK.
And everyone.....looks like a bad time in store for lots of NY coming up.
Prayers to everyone.
Hope we all make a ton of cash this weekend so we can make some much needed donations to those are going to have a far worse time than we will.
Any suggestions from you guys on the scene where it would do the most good?

I'm ok but it's a real mess outside. Water came up at leat four feet in the street at it's worst but is all gone now leaving behind all kinds of junk. Even though the car was parked a few blocks away it is probably dead, but might have been high enough. Probably won't have power for a few days but at least the toilet still works.

The worst is over here; now comes the clean up.
Sounds like the NY/NJ area got it worse than us.
I pray all you guys and gals are ok.

on my street we were very lucky, we only lost power twice during the whole storm, once for an hour the other time 2 hours.
i went up on a tree during the storm next door from me and took it down before it fell on my house. the tree was creaking and looked like it was dancing to the makarena.
