It's in the hole!
Please, tell me why some random guy has to yell out "it's in the hole" on almost every shot, makeable or not, at a golf tournament. I like golf. I like to watch golf, but this random guy really is irritating. It makes golf almost unwatchable for me.
We get it dude! You are cool. You are the life of the party. You always say witty things. It's in the hole was funny on Caddyshack in 1980. It's not funny now!!! Shut up and watch golf you idiot!!!

In golf, total silence is demanded.Yet, in basketball, an 18 year old kid, less than a year out of high school,can go to the foul line with thousands of people screaming and waving towels,shaking foam tubes, etc. and nobody thinks twice about it.
Jes' an observation.

True.
But if basketball demanded total silence so that you could hear a pin drop and just one person screamed during that kid's toss it might distract him.
What I'm saying is, if golfers were used to people screaming, waving towels, shaking foam tubes etc., most golfers would get used to it and be able to do quite well.

I agree with the point of your post, but I always thought that these annoying guys were actually shouting "In the hole!" as if they were trying to will the ball into the cup.

It's just guys like the previous poster said....liquored up and quoting Caddyshack.
It was a funny movie, but yeah....we get it! Move on!
