Oh, I agree. Apology accepted. I believe hunting and sportsmen and self-defense are valid reasons for guns. I'm just not a fan of warfare weapons such as an AK-47. And, hopefully, we will resolve these issues without guns.

That's why we elect people to see the job gets done. We can't help it if they don't do it.

With a few rare exceptions, civilians in this country cannot own AK-47s.

But it is part of my hidden agenda to change that.

These are the same people that consider this:

A standard gun... most 12-14 year olds get for their first firearm.

And this:

A dreaded assault weapon!!!!

HINT) They're the same gun.

I see nothing in the Constitution that prohibits the ownership of an AK-47.
I do see clearly where it prohibits the government from passing any law that inhibits it.

Let's rock.

An AK-47 is a fully automatic weapon and as such is subject to stricter registration than most guns. Federal restrictions include ATF registration and transfer processes as well as a $200 transfer fee. A number of states prohibit ownership of automatic weapons by civilians, and these prohibitions have been upheld.

Thought there were civilian models of the AK-47 in semi. Perhaps not manufactured in Russia, but the same none the less. Maybe I'm wrong.

I was just nitpicking to stir up the libs. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the M-16. The SAR-1 is the civilian version of the AK-47.

AK-47s and SAR-1s are made in many countries around the world. Romania is a big source for SAR-1s imported into the US.

Upfront my friend, and good to know.

Not saying it is true or false. It is just an interesting quote.

Twain was a humorist. The best humor is usually based on exaggeration of reality. Analysis of humor usually destroys it, so I won't try to analyze Twain.

He is close to the truth at the extreme, for dogmatic, unquestioning conservatives. On the other side of the coin are dogmatic, unquestioning liberals who practice the blind and fear-filled worship of political correctness and equal outcome over equal opportunity. Intelligent, thinking people fall into neither category.

Unfortunately for our country, there are too many of both extremes today, both in the electorate and, more importantly, in elected office on both sides of the aisle.

To add to the above, if one must engage in blind, fear-filled worship of the deceased, one could do a lot worse than worship Ben Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison in preference to Karl Marx, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and Saul Alinsky.

He's been running a crappy department for years. They are losing as many as 50 cops a month to other departments for months.

He was not well liked and had been on the hot seat before the shootings.
