What was Beth Thinking?
Okay, so here is what happened.
Beth clicked a button on Facebook that said "invite people you know to Facebook." Suddenly, she has sent out several THOUSAND requests for friendships!
LOL - My girl is nothing if not friendly, but not THAT friendly.
So, if you were in her address book and you received such a message, you will understand it is not some kind of marketing stunt.
And before you tune up the wise-ass comments that we are all famous for around here, remember it was an accident.
Dave

that's the reason I quit facebook. That kind of crap......
They hijack your contacts and index it on their systems and then use it at their leisure........there is much more.....but I won't bore anyone with it......needless to say 500k people didn't quit for no reason.........btw, they say that they have 500 million users now

Dave, I never could get the "will you be my friend thing". It just didn't have a good feel. I registered and unregistered in a span of less than 48 hours.
Be glad Beth didn't send out dinner invitations.

I can think of someone who had their race pictures " borrowed " by others without their permission & now they claim them as their own.

Grits,
Personally, I think Facebook is one of the great inventions of the new millennium. I have re-connected with like 75 people from my school days, including two of my absolute best friends.
Beth has connected... well, obviously she is WAY BETTER at connecting than I am... she has re-connected with a great bunch of women from her high school class. Eight of them went on vacation to Puerto Vallarta in February.
I strongly recommend it to anyone who says to themselves, "I wonder what ever happened to...???"

Dave, it is a great thing........but they blew it on Privacy. When I start going to websites and they pop up ads that have an embedded picture of one of my 40 friends on facebook........telling me that "Your friend bought this camera" I start to get a little freaked out by it...........
I have to tell you, I miss it. I miss talking to my friends in Columbus and Charlotte, and California almost every day. But I just made a decision that it was way too invasive.
There is a great debate going on right now about owning your "Online Identity" Facebook users have abdicated that right..............

The privacy thing caused me far more hesitation than asking folks to be a friend. Only did two of those before I bolted. The privacy thing, even with oodles of controls in place--still was bothering me.
Dave, I remember when Beth went with her friends on their trip. She left you "home alone."
