I think he was down pretty big those days. The wife politely asked me to leave so I grabbed the case of beer I brought and hit the road. They divorced not long after and last I heard he was still living in an RV and betting.

In middle school I bet half of the school that the Pirates would beat the O's in the 1979 world series. When they were down 3-1 I asked my Mom if we could move to another town.

The person who's never "bet over his head" isn't worth talking to...IMO. What can he possibly tell us? Even if you always play it "close to the vest"...you still die in the end.

When I was young I could bet everything I had in my pockets if I really liked a horse. That worked out well some times, but it also caused my first wife to divorce me. When she stopped ranting long enough for me to get a word in I reminded her how happy she was when I had a big score. She even called her friends. I told her that if she celebrates the hits she can't bitch about the misses. It all worked out for the best though and I can laugh about it now.
