Your chances of catching this disease straight from the air, unless you're locked in a poorly ventilated room with someone who has it (for 20-30 minutes no less), are very poor.
That's the science.

Depends on where you live. I grew up in the Bronx, you are safer to live in Manhattan.
COVID-19 Deaths Are Twice As High In The Bronx, New York City’s Poorest & Most Ethnically Diverse Borough, As Compared To Manhattan

I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens. The Bronx may, in fact, be the poorest of the five boroughs but I believe Queens is the most ethnically diverse (I think I read somewhere that it leads the nation in that category).

Accordingly, Queens is the second most dangerous.
African Americans are very vulnerable. Highest percentage of all boroughs. In contrast to age divisions over 65.
In the case of COVID-19, the findings are particularly striking insofar as the virus has hit hardest in the Bronx, even though the proportion of older adults (aged ≥65 years) there is lowest among all New York City boroughs (12.8%); as compared to Manhattan, which has the highest proportion of older residents (16.5%). Most COVID-19 mortality trends in Asia, Europe and elsewhere have shown a striking association between a higher average population age and higher mortality rates.
Covid-19 epicenters alter simplistic conclusions by pandemic deniers, and those assumptions are the "poor science" bandied about here.

People in Manhattan are much smarter, huh?
Because there are NO precautions that are costly or race-related.
btw, still waiting for the peer reviewed studies on wearing a mask - so far all we have in this thread are your and Al99's opinions.
You spent too much time making up stuff to lie about and try to pawn it off as in the video - which it was not.
Shame, shame, cappy lie!
Is that the scientific method when you are caught out of ammo?

But, but, diversity is GOOD, the democrats tell us.
Are you suggesting the DEMOCRATS are causing COVID-19?

Wat an incoherent post. I have no idea of your point. And I already posted that study

You should be able to wear a mask if you want.
However, the title of this topic implies that you might be seen as some kind of "symbol". The poster describes you and other mask wearers as symbols of fear.
Since some people are triggered by symbolic gestures and symbols, and stories about intimidation (and getting punched, etc.) over masking, as well as armed right-wing groups threatening contact tracers as "snitches" abound, I would say that wearing a mask now carries some risk........but NOT the risk that the topic starter is talking about.
Just be careful that your choice to wear a mask is not going to trigger someone who is unstable and may see you as a threat to their worldview.
