Well, about two weeks ago, the wound surgeon released Lindsay from his care, and a couple days later the transplant doctor said he didn't need to see her for four weeks. She is back looking great, putting weight on again after dropping down to about 100 lbs, and even working out again. The kidney is doing fabulous and life has basically returned to normal. It was a rough couple months with several hospital stays and a lot of pain and suffering, but at this point it was all worth it!
Great news Craig (CJ) for you and Lindsay!
All the best!

Some sad news today, not about us as we're both doing great but related to her care. One of Lindsay's doctors, her rheumatologist, met an tragic end earlier this month. My wife was also a patient of his. He was a great doctor that truly cared about his patients and really helped my daughter. He was basically in charge of here care and got her to all the right doctors.

We just found out today as they were calling patients with the news he had passed. I still can't believe what happened. They didn't give any details but it wasn't too tough to find on Google. Really sad and I still can't believe it, just and incredibly crappy way to go.

Jesus...that's awful. You were so lucky to find a doctor like this, and it's incredibly sad that not only has this family lost their father, husband and son, but the community lost a rare thing these days...a great doctor who actually cares about his patients.

Talk about a freak accident. He must have bled out? Femoral artery?

That and how do you shoot yourself in the leg with a cross bow? No chance someone else could have shot him and not known it, right? Rest in peace, that sucks.

No details given but that seems likely. It had to be bad, he'd know how to save himself if it had been possible. I can't even imagine the size of the bolt needed for a bear.

A friend of mine was out deer hunting last season and had a similar crossbow accident. The bolt went straight through his foot and he was really lucky to make it back as there was considerable bleeding.

He was an experienced hunter as well, but he forgot to set the safety and then was climbing out of a blind when it happened. Sorry for the loss, glad you and your daughter are doing well.

Thank you for the update, cj. It is so tough to lose "good ones".
