An early Sean Connery film I recommend is Time Lock. I first saw it on TV some time around 1960. Connery plays the welder. It's on You Tube.

Goldfinger stands as the preeminent and quintessential Bond film. Who could seriously argue that?
But I must admit (and I know this will constitute sacrilege around here) to ranking Daniel Craig at least on par with Connery. At the core, Bond is an unhesitant and remorseless assassin empowered to kill whomever he sees fit, thus the slogan: License to Kill. And Craig conveys that like no other Bond.

I like FRWL a bit over Goldfinger, but close.
Goldfinger got a little to much into special effects and FRWL was about a secret agent mano-a-mano.
But no doubt the Bond series is the best ever.
Sitting in the local theater in 1964 watching the double header - Dr No and FRWL got me out buying up all the Bond books I could find.
Never without one in my back pocket through high school.

I understand that Russia's well-rationed tone of near believability and compelling introduction of SPECTRE set the bar for many fans. But the sexy glitz and audacious plot of Finger, at least for me, make it the best and most influential Bond flick.
Even the gold bars strike me as almost overtly symbolic of the entertainment worth the makers knew they had delivered, and would continue to.
