Gambling Psychology

I just came across this blog devoted to the psychology of gambling. I read a few pieces so far. Interesting stuff. In the very least you get to find out why you do things you do, and in a best case scenario, one might see that they have some bad habits that can be corrected:

Most gamblers study probabilities. That's more than can be said for most people in wedding ceremonies. Every important decision in life is a gamble.

Verily, I say unto you, God is the greatest gambler of all; for He created man. And in His image nonetheless...

If most gamblers studied probabilities, casinos would go out of business. I find few gamblers study probabilities, but perhaps most serious gamblers study probabilities.

Serious gamblers = gamblers
Recreational gamblers = 'the public'

A deep understanding of gambler’s fallacy and hot hand in relation to pari-mutuel betting can contribute greatly to the creation of a profitable model.
