R.I.P. Steven Spurrier

Steven Spurrier, who organized the Judgement of Paris wine tasting where California wines were judged better than French wines, died last month at the age of 79.

Football coach and wine enthusiast. A real renaissance man.

I don't know this Steven Spurrier but may he RIP. I read an article about the contest between CA and French wines. It was a big deal back in the day.

The Steve Spurrier who is a famous wine merchant, died on March 9 this year.

He is NOT the football legend who was a Heisman winner as a player and coach in the pros and at Duke, Florida and South Carolina.

He is still alive.

When I worked moving the 49ers, he was on the team but do not recall seeing once.

From the post below I read it that the OP did think they were one and the same. I made the underline to highlight the point.

Several times? There’s not more than a handful of flicks I’ve seen more than twice.

I’ll give it a shot.

It was tongue and cheek. I knew the difference but assumed the uneducated lefties on here would not.
