Open Office

I have both Apache and Libre, and the database in both seem to be very bad.
I want to export the data from a table of a query into a spreadsheets, but none of the suggestions on the net seem to work.

Anyone doing this, and how?

Any more info you can share? Copy/Paste doesn't work? Any messages?

Tried copy/paste, drag and drop, nothing works, no messages, either just the spinning blue circle never stops or I get some text in cell A1.
Both Apache and Libre. Both queries and tables the same.

I am amazed that there is not a no-brainer option such as save as or export.

Can you try it from Calc instead? i.e. open your db and then a new sheet and put the sql code in A1 and run that?

If this is a direct sql Select which creates a cursor try

Select Into Text TomsFile where ... yada yada

and then TomsFile will be a csv file of the results which you can load into Calc.

Edit - I see Tupper beat me to the export to Calc. Try the Select Into if that doesn't work.

Here is a sample Base file with tables.

The above linked procedure of copying the table and pasting it into a Calc cell works flawlessly here.

By the way, you don't open the Base table to copy it -- you simply right-click on the table's title (in the Tables list) and choose "Copy."

I get a message about java missing and no connection to the DB could be made. Then "Paste" is greyed out and not available.

The lack of Java is (or perhaps and outdated version) can indeed cause problems.

In LibreOffice, go to "Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced," and you should see a list of Java runtime environments that are installed (you likely only have one version).

Make sure that the square is "checked" next to "Use a Java runtime environment."

If that doesn't work, you might try reinstalling Java and possibly LibreOffice. Here is Java for Windows.

Got it!

In Calc, you have to press F4 to open a window and you find your table or query in that window, then drag and drop from that window to cell A1.
Took about 15 minutes, but I got it all!

Thanks all for your help.
