I cannot say yes they increase ontrack handle, but it does increase handle overall. The historical racing machines here are considered parimutual bets and therefore controlled by the tracks. Every track in KY has them except Turfway. It has given big boost to the purses and because of the boost in purses, the fields have increased in size. This is especially true for Kentucky Downs and Ellis Park. To a smaller extent for Churchill and Keeneland is Keeneland and always has good fields because of the dates of the meet in the Spring and in the Fall.

It is a different situation with the historical racing machines here when you compare it to traditional slots in places like WV, and IL.

Not a fan of CDI, Inc, but love Churchill Downs and the KY circuit in general. This may not have the bump in purse money like Ellis has had recently, but give it time and this will be good for the KY circuit within 2 yrs.

Already talked to small barn trainers that have said this may be the last time they head south for the winter depending on what the purse money will be after this meet.

Scuttlebutt on the backside is that the reason Turfway does not have those machines is the area to locate them needs extensive remodeling and Hard Rock does not want to invest.
Say what you want about the instant racing machines, but they have improved the racing at every track here in KY.

Good prediction. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...e-turfway-park

Looks more like the KY breeders/trainers/owners are trying to force Turfway to put the machines in, or if they don't do that, then face an option of being deaded.

Horsemen want that slot/machine money!!!!!!!!!!
