Horse was fit.

It was a 1/5 favorite he was chasing. They tried to keep up, but the chalk was more than worthy as a front-running 1/5 chalk.

Winner won by a Secretariat Belmont 25 lengths. Guess we should shame Laffit Pincay Jr for pulling back Sham while we're at it.

To be fair, while it looks bad, without the head on, it's hard to be sure what happened. Not that Paco has earned the benefit of the doubt.

It didn't help that he steered him down to the puddles everyone else was avoiding. But hey, only diehard chalk players were really hurt so I'm not going to lose any sleep. 🤣

yeah, I found the drop right to the inside to be weird.

He made a huge mistake, but he probably had good intentions.

He had a huge lead over the 3rd and 4th horse horse well into the stretch and was probably just trying to save some horse for the future rather than using a tired horse further so he lost by 22 lengths instead of 25. So he eased up a little assuming he had 2nd locked up. What he didn't realize was that the 3rd and 4th horse were still engaged in a battle for the show and still riding all out even though the race was over for the win. He may have been just as surprised as everyone else when he got nailed.

It's not unheard of for riders to ease up on beaten horses to save something, but you have to be aware of what's going on around you. He clearly blew it unless the horse was sore or he felt something he didn't like.

In retrospect, you guys might be right. I overlooked the fact he took the horse to the monsoon conditions on the rail, which you never do in the slop at Parx. It was a strange ride but still not convinced he'd have kept the horse that close to the winner through the turn if the goal was to stiff him. But who knows?

Not the 1st horse this week and won't be the last horse he does it to this week.

Did Lopez take Riden with Biden to the rail or did the horse take itself there? They were outside of Nest for a mile and a quarter of the race and were obviously done at the top of the stretch. Calibrate (3rd choice) was wide the whole trip and was eased worse than RWB was late. 2nd and 4th place horses more inside than outside the whole trip.

I don't play Parx often but realize it can be as biased as any track when the situation presents itself (don't think it necessarily was Saturday), fwiw RWB won this race last year when speed and the rail were golden. I'll give Lopez a pass on this one. Hard to hold any jockey accountable given the conditions that day.

also if you watch the winner he was 8 wide at the top of the stretch this was done on purpose that part of the track was not under water like the rail and thats the path that the ended up in probably because the horse was cooked but this didnt help running thru that muck.
