yep, brand new one here in Texas. They are everywhere now. All over the south and they just bought a chain in NC.

The new store is like a Walmart size and very much like Walmart in the products they sell. They even have a full fledged Jewelry store inside the Krogers. Like the kind they have at the malls. Restaurant and Starbucks too.

They've come a long way from Cincy and Columbus

Yeah, I remember when Piggly Wiggly and Safeway used to be big down here, then it was Krogers/Winn Dixie/Miniards etc..

I'm about 70 miles from Dallas and gas here is $3.07 at Murphey's/Walmart.

Gas prices up sharply again here. Went right through the four dollar barrier as if it were not there. $4.07 the cheapest gas in Orange County, most stations higher. An intersting sidelight to this it that a trip to Arizona and Nevada comes up in two weeks. A check of prices in Bullhead City shows $3.29, a huge difference of 78 cent a gallon. Perhaps I can get the car up to over 100 mph, then coast the last 100 miles or so all the way to an Arizona station. Once again, KommieFornia leads the way in taxing it's citizens.

$4.09 at my local gas station...and the rise in price couldn't have come at a worse time. Not only is it tax time...but I've been mired in the longest losing streak that I can remember.

And my losses aren't tax deductible.

70 miles SE of Dallas, was 3.07 about 3 weeks ago, now the cheapest I've seen around here is 3.51. Has anyone heard the "excuse" this time? I don't watch the news, too depressing and biased.

I use the Kroger Plus card and save anywhere from .03 to .80 + cents per gallon depending on how much I spent shopping last month. The more you spend, the more you save at the pump.

The usual one, "Switching formulas" from winter blend to summer. Next fall will get the same thing going the other way. Just why this merits a sharp price increase has never been explained to me in a logical manner.
